Three children/nine jobs......?

A dormer bungalow could be converted into a home for vulnerable children, if a planning application is approved. A Mr K Rothwell from the Inspired Homes Network has applied to Conwy County Council, seeking permission to convert 17 Cefn y Bryn in Llanrhos into supported accommodation for children mainly, but also adults.

The house is currently used as a regular home. If granted, the proposal would generate nine full-time jobs. According to the application, neighbours have not been consulted.

The applicant, in a planning statemen, said: "In terms of the operation of the proposed care home, the property would be used to accommodate a maximum of three children who would live at the property on a long-term basis. "It is expected that they will be in need of care due to their social or educational needs or to be provided with support for their behaviour.

A HOTEL in Llandudno is to undergo an extensive refurbishment project, which will see the creation of a spa and the demolition of a section of the building.

Llandudno Bay Hotel and Spa, on the promenade, will see the partial demolition of some of its rear structures and a refurbishment of the existing building after plans were approved by the council.

One- and two-storey sections will be added to the building, along with the creation of new spa facilities and the installation of solar and thermodynamic panels.

Edvard Ivanian has applied to Conwy County Council, seeking planning permission for the Japanese style take-away at 57b on Mostyn Avenue, Craig y Don.

There is no parking provision included in the planning application, but the sushi takeaway will create two full-time jobs and three part-time positions if granted.

Sunday and bank holiday opening hours would be 1pm until 9pm.

The planning application will likely be debated at a future Conwy County Council planning committee meeting at Bodlondeb.

Major homes development close to A55 at Conwy coastal town opposed by some residents
Residents' fears for wildlife, traffic, and sewage

Why can't CCBC insist on 100%  affordable housing and for local people?      If the developer thinks that it's not viable to do that then they could always look elsewhere.

Conwy council backs proposal that could stop people from turning property into holiday let or second home
Cabinet back report on a new power on offer from the Welsh Government

Conwy?s cabinet has backed a new Welsh Government power that would give the council the ability to stop people converting homes into holiday properties. At a meeting this week, Conwy ?s cabinet discussed ?article four?, a Welsh Government direction that means homeowners would need planning permission to use a property as a second home or holiday let.

The power is intended to stop Welsh communities being reduced to holiday home villages owned by people living away by raising house prices to unobtainable levels for locals. Consequently, Conwy?s cabinet debated whether the new power should be accepted as policy to be included in the council?s next replacement local development plan.

Controversial plans to demolish a bungalow and build nine new homes in its place have been approved.

Residents in Glan Conwy objected to the proposals to knock down Glynton on Top Llan Road, fearing the development could cause drainage and traffic problems, amongst other issues.

The applicant, named in documents as Mr W. Williams, wanted to develop two strips of land between 1 Tyn Celyn and Top Llan Road as part of the development, as well as land between Glynton and Glydar.

PLANS TO convert a former chapel building in Conwy into a holiday home complex have been withdrawn, following concerns about the project.

The Grade II listed Capel Carmel building, a former Welsh Presbyterian Church, and the adjacent schoolhouse, on Chapel Street, would have become residential holiday properties.

The proposal would have seen an area of the site surrounding the buildings demolished, with sections of the buildings converted into gaming, bar, lounge and terrace deck areas, among other uses.

But the plans were met with concern by residents, with one saying the building's conversion into an AirBnb-type holiday home was "dangerous" for traffic, the local economy and housing.
