I think it was 1972 the last time there was scaffolding up there  :D

I thought Mostyn Estates insisted all the hotels on the promenade had to be re-painted on a regular basis.

Perhaps, the landowners do not own all the land on the front then.

They used to paint them using long ladders. A friend, who was a painter, was up a Triple extension ladder a few years ago, just when health & safety legislation was being enacted, when he was called down by an officious looking gent. when he finally arrived at pavement level, the gent, said that he was a Health & Safety Inspector, and that the ladder was the largest that he had ever seen, and what's more that He NEVER WANTED to SEE it AGAIN. GET it DOWN and take it away.    :'(

Castle Hotel. A fitting memorial to Degsy Livingstone - bless him.

When I was an apprentice gas fitter I had the delightful experience of working in all the hotel kitchens in Llandudno. I vowed never, ever to willingly have a meal in a hotel as long as I lived. Except the Risborough.

In the 1969 Directory it is listed as Castleton Private Hotel Gloddaeth Avenue in the Trades Section and in the Street section, the  listing is in the name of  Ronald G. Line. The property is not numbered, but its nearest neighbours are Llwyn on one side and on the other side Awelon, which I think places it at the West Shore end as there is a house named Castleton there which can be seen on Streetview
