THE number of new cases of coronavirus for North Wales remains low, latest figures show.

Data released by Public Health Wales on August 29, shows that there had been six new cases in the North Wales region.
Of which four were in Flintshire, one in Wrexham and one in Conwy.

Wrexham still has the highest total of positive cases with 1,406 compared to 823 in Denbighshire, 775 in Flintshire, 733 in Conwy, 620 in Gwynedd and 467 in Anglesey.

The Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board recorded no further deaths so the total remains at 419 - the highest death toll across Wales.

Investigations into the number of coronavirus cases have indicated a lack of social distancing.

Dr Giri Shankar, Incident Director for the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak response at Public Health Wales, said: “Our investigations into a number of cases of Coronavirus have indicated that a lack of social distancing, in particular by a minority of the 20-30 year age group, has resulted in the spread of the virus to other groups of people.

“I would make a direct appeal to young people to remember that even if they feel that they would not be badly affected by COVID-19 if they were to test positive for it, if they were to pass it on to older or more vulnerable family members, friends or colleagues it could be extremely serious, even fatal.

“Despite the lower infection rates in Wales, Coronavirus has not gone away. It remains the responsibility of everyone to help prevent the spread of this virus – that is, by self-isolating when asked to do so, staying two metres away from others, and by washing hands regularly.                       ref Pioneer

I'm pleased that we don't seem to have seen a threatened second wave.  Mustn't speak too soon.,..

I admit I was expecting the worst to happen, but as has been said, more positive cases than fatalities involving the younger generation, my next worry, is the winter getting nearer, and the difficulties in differentiating between normal winter ailments and the Virus, this is going to be a big headache.
