The proposed development must be an improvement for the area as the building was quickly becoming an eyesore   
What I have noticed on most of the planning applications nowadays is a stereotype of phraseology such as :-
"Replanting is also part of the proposal, seeking to increase biodiversity in the region with the creation of a public space, while providing easier access and more parking for disabled people, pedestrians, cyclists, vehicles and emergency vehicles"
No mention of affordable apartments or that they are for local people and that is equally if not more important than all the other fancy buzz words

There is local talk of demolition of the buildings, which indicates a massive development............

With all the floods and flood warnings for Conwy County together with Storm Bert  I was a bit surprised when I drove down to the Werst Shore today.
I drove past those now infamous Dwarf Walls which are part of the new additional sea defence and noticed something about the existing sea defence.
Not one of the pillars  had the wooden planks and wedges inserted into the grooves provider in order to prevent sea water from reaching the road.
Is that risk management or does CCBC know more than the weather forecasters?

Hugo, Thanks for those photos, ..apart from no planks  I noticed that the grooves do not look fit for purpose, rubble and excess cement
left in the groove by the builder, I suspect would not leave a tight fit.?        PS.....       I have passed my worries to the local Gogarth councillors

Thanks for passing that on to the local Councillor Steve, it's good feedback for them but I don't know how those pillars, and there are a lot of them, fit in with the latest addition to the West Shore Sea Defence

I took notice of them after a friend told me a story last night about the same type of sea defence near the paddling pool end of the North Shore promenade.
He and his wife were walking along the promenade and they were beckoned for help by an old gentleman in a big mobility scooter.      He pointed to the wooden planks and claimed that the Council had locked him in the promenade.     He asked them to remove the planks so that he could drive off the Prom but the planks were firmly locked in with wooden wedges and couldn't be moved.
What am I supposed to do said the old guy and my friend noticed a ramp not to far away and suggested he used that as a way of getting off the prom.
The old guy whose eyesight wasn't as good as my friends came up with a classic phrase  " I don't quite believe you" but anyway they walked back to the ramp and saw the guy safely off on his way over the ramp

I visited the West Shore this week and the mess by the boating lake has got worse since I was last there.     The lake has been empties but water is still flowing from the Penmorfa Adit and the lake now looks like a giant sand pit
The photos speak for themselves but just in case anyone is under the misapprehension that we should expect this living by the seaside,  I have again attached a photo of how it looked and was meant to look prior to 1993
I make no apology for attaching the photo but the apology should come from the Council  for the damage inflicted on the town

Exactly Hugo. It’s a disgrace what they did to the west shore. And every year the spend money that they can’t afford on moving all the sand away 😤😡.    Mind you the new Wall they have built will stop any flooding,   Another bright idea the idiots had was to build the cycle / walkway at the Sandhills.

Norman,   I've said it before and I'll say it again, we are the lucky generation.      We've swam from those steps by the Toll House before those idiots built the 1993 sea defence against the advise and wishes of Llandudno's local people.
I feel sorry for those people living nearby  ( apart from the silent Councillor ) whose houses are sand blasted on a regular basis.     Llandudno will flood again at sometime and remember that the last flood was caused by rainfall rather than by the sea

Unbelievable that anyone could get away with creating an eyesore like that.

Do the people voted on to the council have any pride in the place they live in, it seems not. Could there be another reason why this is being allowed to continue ?

Anwyl Homes after 16 years of doing nothing on the site has said that it is not viable for them to build bespoke apartments on the land.      It begs the question of what type of builder would take 16 years to reach that conclusion?
The cost of the land is £2.25 million so there will have to be many apartments built to make a worthwhile profit.         Let's hope that we don't have to wait another 16 years before this eyesore is developed

council contractors been working on the flood defence wall again this week, putting in the flood barrier posts and started to dig near the carpark to raise the sea wall
