After a trip to the West Shore last week it made me think of the ill fated sea defence of 1993.

The sea defence was erected solely because of a lack of sand on the beach and the powers that be said that the concrete steps were being undermined, so the Council did what they did and the evidence of their work is there for everyone to see.
The decisions of the CCBC and the consultants they employ leave a lot to be desired and my faith in them has all but disappeared
I do however respect the opinions of local lifeboat personnel whose lives depend on knowing about the sea and its currents etc and I had a short but  interesting chat with a very experienced crew member.
What he said was that the sea defence was disastrous and he informed me that the sand levels on parts of  the beach were below the pre 1993 levels
So in effect all that work and the damage caused was unnecessary.

The first photo was taken in 1988 and the second was taken last year so anyone bar the CCBC and that Councillor who lives near the boating lake can see that we may have a problem there!

Hugo every day we walk the dog sometimes twice a day, it is so upsetting to see what damage the idiots have done, I was looking down from invalids walk yesterday and thinking how they could have kept the beach how it was and had a good sea defence offshore, the way they did you are getting all the sand blowing over, your 2 nd pic just show how bad, they just can't get that the damage is in between them 2 groynes, as for that idiot councillor say no more of him 🤔

They didn't really need the third groyne either Norman.     Do you remember the Black Rocks that were there,  they were natural and filtered the sand and dissipated the power of the sea in that area.
Ask a local?       it's not in CCBC's vocabulary!            >?>??
