Here's the latest from the three main weather tracking sources and the informal network of weather watchers.

It's now become pretty certain that thunderstorms will hit us from around 1415 onwards. They'll be coming up from the South, so keep an eye out for darkening skies from that direction.

Just to let folks know there's now an Amber alert for N Wales for rain later today to Thursday. North facing hills are likely to see around 10/15cm of rain over a 24 hour period.

Thanks Ian, it has been raining steadily here in Upper Colwyn Bay for nearly 3 hours and it looks like it's in for the day.   Luckily for us  there will be no floods up here but those people living in low lying areas may not be so lucky

It has been one of the warmest Mays on record in the UK so they say.       Where exactly in the UK has that happened?   It must have bypassed Colwyn Bay because apart from a few warm days I've had to have the central heating and electric blankets on.

I agree with you, today I have been wondering where the year has gone, first of June tomorrow, I know time flies when you get older, but ............

Same up here on Mull.

Been a cold north wind on most days in May. Certainly not been beach weather. Still got heating on and I am sure it is not because we are getting older.

Just heard on the radio (Boom Radio 4 o'clock news) that May was the hottest May on record.
I think they need to get a new thermometer.

I wonder if the thermometer was in the Met Office's in London's canteen?      It certainly didn't feel that warm in N Wales
Ever wondered why it is deemed a White Christmas if just one snowflake fell on the roof of the Met Office's building in London on Christmas Day?       The fact of the matter is that there could be two feet of snow in Scotland or elsewhere in the UK but that doesn't seem to count.

The North doesn't count - in some folks' minds.
