Glan Conwy's Kevin Smith who is sailing across the world in yacht race for Abergele Eye Unit details experience so far.

A FATHER-of-two who is taking part in one of the biggest challenges of the natural world is currently in Australia.

Kevin Smith, 70 this year, is taking part in the gripping Clipper 2019-20 Round the World Yacht Race to raise funds for the Abergele Eye Unit. More than £2,000 has been raised so far.

The race involves 11 racing yachts. Kevin, of Glan Conwy, is part of the crew on Dare to Lead which is currently in seventh position overall. There are more than 50 crew onboard.
