And from all the 'merry' band of bellringers at Holy Trinity. I*

As it's turned the page, I'd better repeat that we are wishing everyone a very Happy Christmas.

Don't forget that Easter eggs will be in the shops any day now, Cadbury's cream eggs are usually the first!  _))*

I can write this post because I have known George in the corner shop in the square for very many years, and I know, if he happens to read it, he will  take it in the spirit it was written I.E, LOL The reason his Easter eggs are on display so early is that nine months ago he heard that there was going to be a dramatic rise in the cost of cocoa beans, so, being the enterprenial person he is (tight old beggar) he stashed a few thousand away under his bed. Oh I remember Ace alright......The Ace of Spades.  D)

If you like to gamble, I tell you I'm your man
You win some, lose some, it's still the same to me
The pleasure is to play, it makes no difference what you say
I don't share your greed, the only card I need is
The Ace Of Spades
The Ace Of Spades

Playing for the high one, dancing with the devil,
Going with the flow, it's all a game to me,
Seven or Eleven, snake eyes watching you,
Double up or quit, double stake or split, it's
The Ace Of Spades
The Ace Of Spades

You know I'm born to lose, and gambling's for fools,
But that's the way I like it baby,
I don't wanna live for ever,
And don't forget the joker!

Pushing up the ante, I know you've got to see me,
Read 'em and weep, the dead man's hand again,
I see it in your eyes, take one look and die,
The only thing you see, you know it's gonna be,
The Ace Of Spades
The Ace Of Spades

A few of us were chatting earlier about New Years Eve. Remember when it was the Millenium and people tried to cash in.......taxis wanted 3 times the usual fare and pubs wanted to charge you anything from £5 and up to get in your local boozer for the night and forget the entertainment.  I don't ever remember local pubs charging before. A lot of people decided to have their own parties instead, including myself. Since then the pubs seem to have gone quieter on NYE as people realised they had just as much fun. Most people I speak to now would rather go to a party.   Z**
