Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Imperial Hotel’s sandcastle competition has been cancelled. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Final chance to sign up for the St David’s Hospice Dawn Walk. The ladies only walk on Sunday 19th August follows the coast path from Conwy to Llandudno (return). The deadline for the registration has been extended to this Friday (10th) Forms can be downloaded from http://stdavidshospice.org.uk/st-davids-hospice-dawn-walk-19th-august-2012.html. Club 147, Upper Mostyn Street, Llandudno have two charity band nights coming up at the end of the month – Wed 22nd August, ‘Groovy revolution’ – the ultimate party band. £1 minimum donation. Friday 24th August ,Ronstadt Generations – Folk music straight from the USA. £2 Entry. Performances for both nights start from 9pm. All proceeds donated to St David’s Hospice.

The St David’s Hospice Duck Race takes place at 5pm on Saturday 25th August as part of the Conwy River Festival. The plastic ducks will race to the finish line, with the “owner” of the winning duck claiming a £100 first prize. Duck numbers can be bought for £1 in advance from the hospice reception, in Abbey Rd, Llandudno or on the quay on the day.

Enjoy sitting on the promenade and listening to good music? Come along to the Summer Concert on Bank holiday Monday (27th) and listen to the sounds of Norman Glasgow and friends. 11am – 4pm. For more information 01492 512427.

Dust of your costumes and join in the fun at a Fancy Dress Disco in aid of St David’s Hospice. Saturday 25th August at the Royal British Legion, Llanrwst starts 7.30pm.

Zumbathon is coming to Llandudno Prom! The Zumba event is on Sunday 23rd September 2012 from 10am on the bandstand. Local Zumba teachers from Moverz ‘n’ Shakerz will be running the event which is open to all ages and abilities, regardless of whether you have taken part in Zumba before or not. Petra Studenkova from Llandudno Junction has completed her Snowdon Challenge in memory of Ray Mullin, who passed away at St David’s Hospice. Supported by a team of friends, she walked up the Pyg Track in the rain, one of the most rugged and challenging paths up Snowdon. Not only did she successfully finish, she raised £278 for St David’s.

This month Club147, Llandudno are holding two events as part of their charity of the year fundraising effort. Wednesday 22nd August is the ‘Groovy revolution – ultimate party band. (Min. donation £1)  and Friday welcomes the Ronstadt Generation from North America band playing music representing the multi-cultural roots America was founded upon. The band comes with the highest credentials, having appeared around the world in performance. Entry £2. Not to be missed.
•   Come to the St David’s Hospice Duck Race on Saturday 25th August (5pm) and you will see hundreds of small plastic ducks will be launched into the Conwy River. The ducks will float down the river and a winning duck will be scooped out of the water by the Mayor of Conwy, as it passes the finishing line. Duck numbers can be purchase for £1, from various businesses in and around Conwy prior to the race, or on the Conwy quay on the day.
•   The Hospice Shop in Penrhyn Rd, Colwyn Bay is currently looking for volunteer shop assistants to help on Mondays and Tuesdays. Volunteering in your local Hospice Shop is a wonderful way of supporting the Hospice while having fun and building new friendships.

•   A summer concert in aid of St David’s Hospice takes place on August  bank holiday Monday (27th) 11am – 4pm at the bandstand on Llandudno Promenade. It is a lovely spot to enjoy a summer's afternoon listening to the entertainment of Norman Glasgow and friends.

•   The local community of Betws y Coed have challenged themselves to laying a quarter mile of pound coins around the Cae Llan to raise funds for St David’s Hospice and Welsh Air Ambulance. The event, on Sunday 26th August, is in memory of George Pringle who originally planned the idea but sadly passed away. Join in the fundraising and donate a pound coin 10.30am till 4.30pm.

•   Thank you to everyone involved in the Party on the Plot! event at Llandudno Allotments raising £110 for St David’s Hospice.

•   The Giddy Goat Comedy Festival is back! Friday 14th– Sunday 16th Sept. Now in its second year, this charity event will once more be raising vital funds for St David’s Hospice. Prepare for three days of giggles, chortles and full-on belly laughs at Venue Cymru and Theatr Colwyn, courtesy of some very special guests including Stephen K Amos, Arthur Smith, Barry From Watford, Matt Rees and Phill Jupitus. •   Recycle your old mobile phone and donate to St David’s Hospice. It’s quick and easy to recycle your old mobile phone, and it won’t cost you a penny. Simply hand in your handset to one of our charity shops across the area or drop it into the hospice reception (9am – 5pm). Alternatively, post your old mobile phone in a sealed envelope to FREEPOST RECYCLEWISE ST DAVID’S HOSPICE. That’s all you need to put on the envelope to reach our recycling company.

This year’s St David’s Hospice Duck race is part of the Conwy River Festival on Saturday 25th August. A duck race stall will be on the Quay throughout the day where you can buy a duck number for only £1. The first duck over the race line which is fished out by the Mayor of Conwy will win £100 (race takes place at 5pm). You can buy a duck number in various outlets throughout Conwy and Deganwy.


•   Many thanks to Mr & Mrs Millington who were married on July 21st at the Imperial Hotel, Llandudno. Their guests donated to St David’s Hospice and Ty Gobaith instead of buying presents. £427.50 donated to St David’s. They would to thank all their guests for donating to the hospices.

•   A summer concert will be entertaining the crowds at the band stand. Llandudno Promenade next Monday (27th) 11am – 4pm. All donations in aid of St David’s Hospice.

•   The Carlton Pub, Llandudno are holding various fundraising events for St David’s Hospice over the bank holiday weekend. Including a 60’s & 70’s Disco and Raffle on Saturday 25th and a bikeathon between 10am and 11pm on the Bank holiday Monday.

•   This Sunday (26th), Betws y Coed will see a golden line of pound coins being created around the Cae Llan. All money raised will be donated to St David’s Hospice and the Welsh Air Ambulance. Join in the fundraising and donate a pound coin 10.30am till 4.30pm.

•   Win Olly Murs! Get your sealed bid in to win a signed cardboard cut-out of Olly Murs. It was autographed at the Access All Eirias event in July and donated by Conwy Borough County Council to the hospice to raise funds. All offers will be sealed and drawn at midday on Friday 31st August. The winning bid will be the highest offer. Winners must be able to collect from Llandudno. You can send your bids for the attention of Haf Mather at St David’s Hospice, Abbey Road, Llandudno, LL30 2EN alternatively you can email your bid to h.mather@stdavidshospice.org.uk.  Please include your bid, full name, address and a contact number. •   The tickets are now on sale for the three day Giddy Goat comedy festival in September (14th – 16th). •   Date for your diary: Sunday 30th September Memory Walk around the Great Orme. Further details to come.

Monday 27th August 2012•   Elwyn and Olwen Roberts of Llandudno donated £580 to St David's Hospice in lieu of gifts for their 50th wedding anniversary. They would like to thank all their friends and family who generously donated.

•   Only two weeks until the Giddy Goat Comedy Festival takes place at Venue Cymru in aid of St David’s Hospice. It is a three day festival of laughter ( Fri 14th Sept – Sun 16th ) Big names in comedy will be there, including Stephen K. Amos, Barry from Watford, Marcus Brigstocke, Phill Jupitus, Francesca Martinez, Tim Quinn, Matt Rees, David Sedaris and Arthur Smith. To find out more or book tickets go to: www.giddygoat.org.

•   The Great Orme Memory Walk is on Sunday 30th September. Join us to walk in memory of a loved one. Registration is 1pm at St David’s Hospice, Abbey Rd, Llandudno. •   Donate your scrap car - St David’s Hospice has teamed up with Giveacar, the UK’s largest scrap car and vehicle donation service. The service organises the free collection and recycling of any car or vehicle, anywhere in the UK. The Hospice is able to benefit either from the scrap metal value of the car, or if it is more valuable, the sale price at auction. •   St David’s Hospice is currently looking for volunteers to help in their charity shops in Conwy, Colwyn Bay and Craig Y Don. Volunteers will carry out all duties relating to the smooth running of the shop. Including greeting and serving customers in a welcoming manner, assisting in stock management and manning the till and processing sales. Ideal way to meet new people and make friendships. PHOTO: On Sunday 9th September, a team staff from Bone & Payne Solicitors will ditch their suits and don their trainers in aid of St David’s Hospice. The team, Roger Griffith, Gwyndaf Pari, Don Johnson, Claire Dutton, and Eirlys Douglas will be running the Lake Vyrnwy Half Marathon, comprising of a 13.1 mile circuit around the stunning lake in Mid Wales. •   Thank you to The Asia Restaurant in Llandudno who have raised £1,400 through a fundraising meal for St David’s Hospice.  and Thank you to Ray Mac Kensie and all at Llanfairfechan Golf Club who organised a pram race and raised £776.

•   This Sunday (23rd), come and join in the Moverznshakerz Zumbathon which will be at the bandstand, Llandudno promenade from 1pm until 3pm.  Everyone is welcome. The routines will be varied but easy to follow and participants can take part in as little or as much as they like. •   Ffit Conwy Leisure Centres present the first ever Charity Fitness Marathon on Sunday 30th September at The Barn, Eirias Park 1pm – 3pm. The proceeds of the event will divided equally between St David’s Hospice and Breast Cancer Care Cymru.
Entry is £5 and it is a non-profit making event. Over 16s only, All participants must complete a registration form on the day if the event.

•   Also on Sun 30th September, The St David’s Hospice Great Orme Memory Walk will be taking place following the beautiful route around Marine Drive. Please join us in memory of a loved or perhaps merely to enjoy the scenery. The walk starts and finishes at the hospice in Abbey Rd, Llandudno and is approx. 6 miles along. •   Strictly Come Dancing - A night of top class competition dancers! Friday 12th October, Ffrith Beach Arena, Prestatyn. There will be exhibition dances and the audience choose the winner, after which the dance floor will be open for everyone. Starts 7.30pm tickets £10 or £15 including coach travel.
