I have always associated Goulash with Hungary, and Wikipedia seems to concur with me.

In the meantime, the 'Hungry Hungarian' sign has today disappeared from outside The Lindens.
I am glad about this, as it was amateurish and not in keeping with the Conservation area.
However the new 'hand pained' new sign for The Lindens itself, is not much better.

I remember the Regency Royal hotel having a home made sign above their main entrance,some people have no idea how to run a buisness .

Will a local buisness man please take on Dreams empty unit on Mostyn Champneys and turn it into a local night club please.It would be an ideal location.

I'd always believed it was Hungarian.  It was an elderly Polish friend who told me it was - in fact - Polish, but I suspect he'd got his facts wrong.  I can't find any sources which suggest it originated in Poland. From Brittanica: "The origins of goulash have been traced to the 9th century, to stews eaten by Magyar shepherds. Before setting out with their flocks, they prepared a portable stock of food by slowly cooking cut-up meats with onions and other flavourings until the liquids had been absorbed. The stew was then dried in the sun and packed into bags made of sheep's stomachs. At mealtime, water was added to a portion of the meat to reconstitute it into a soup or stew."

Nothing like Haggis!  We have Haggis very regularly.  Used to have it brought down from Scotland by coach drivers but now I've found a very good tinned variety on mail order.  Great with neaps and tatties!

For a quick cuppa today, me and 'er indoors visited the Indulgence Cafe in Clonmel Street?  Tried this place for the first time today whilst waiting for my watch to be fixed at the next door Jewellers.  Me and Mrs had a Capuccino each and shared a toasted tea cake.  The coffee was mediocre, very little froth and certainly not hot, but plenty in the saucer.  The tea cake was over cooked and charred on top, served with two small pats of butter that was barely enough for one half of the tea cake.
But the thing that got me the most was when the "chef" stood behind the small counter scoffing a bowl of what looked like Shreddies and then a mug of some hot (?) drink to wash it down.  The two female staff and another lad were just hanging around and seemed bored to tears.  I wasn't surprised. 

For its position it should be a little gold mine but with service as we saw it, it will never happen!

The time was just after 3.00 pm, the town was busy, but this place had plenty of vacant tables.

Never again!

I always go to Indulgence when in town and have no problem with it or the owner,but unfortunatley Yorkie you had a bad experience,but im sure it was a one off.

Rumours going around that Yates are going in the Clarence and Garlands are after Broadway,obviously just rumours but it would be nice.

Well, if it is normal for one of the staff who handles food, to nosh Shreddies at the counter in front of customers, then I reckon I found it on the right day!   

My standards are a lot higher than that!   WWW  And there are plenty of other places in Town to choose from.
