It is vital to have a menu, complete with prices, facing outwards.

It's actually the law, if the place has table service. If you go to a counter, however, they're not obliged to do so.

Harveys New York Bar. Took my 25 year old daughter and my 2months old grandson there. Didnt last long, all of 5 minutes. No baby changing facilities (actually my daughter says there are no disabled toilets either --- but I cannot confirm that.)
And, remarkably, the 25 year old mother, well used to nightclub noise, didnt like the loud music!!! That did surprise me.   Mike   P.S.Noise didnt bother me,my hearing aid battery had gone flat.

It does seem the owner has just gone for tourist traffic and no real regard for local turnover, not sure if they have a card facility yet or signs on the toilet, the toilet is just one cubicle for the mens which is not good enougth, not sure what they have done with the upstairs. So overall it seems to be overpriced and lacking in customer care so not sure how long its going to last.

I'm still trying to work out what is remotely 'New York' about it. I was hoping for a lot more, if I'm honest.

There's a couple of reviews of Harvey's now on Qype, one awarding them five out of five and other one out of five.  Whatever else the place clearly manages to divide opinion.  I hope they manage to sort things out because I'd be surprised if they have anything on the menu that I wouldn't like (assuming it was cooked properly) but I don't feel I can justify the outlay based on what I've heard at the moment.  Hopefully it's just teething problems and they'll get things sorted in due course.

Who thinks this review is genuine...? Not me!!!

"Love this place so much i have been twice since it opened!!!! amazing atmosphere and lovely food!! about time Llandudno had somewhere like this that you can go and sit in nice surroundings and enjoy great tasting and nicely presented food. Love the fact that you can see the chefs cooking in the kitchen. Totally disagree with the above comment that states it has been done to a budget?? were you in the same place? yes it is frustrating about only being able to pay by cash but from what i can gather its the card machine company that is at fault and not the owners. Great place, will certainly be returning!!"

The latest three reviews on Tripadvisor sound very similar to that, I don't believe them either!  Perhaps they should have kept the 'Disaster' name!

I am not going to comment if it is right or wrong by having only the one toilet for men but isn't it just the same with Caffe Nero and they trade over two floors and not just the one?

On the subject of Caffe Nero, can someone please explain why they have now placed tables and chairs outside in front of where customers inside are looking out instead of positioning them around the corner in St Georges Place where the impact would be minimal?

There is a unisex/disabled toilet on the ground floor, as well as the toilet upstairs.

Caffe Nero only have permission to put outside seating outside the Mostyn St frontage, I believe it will be extended outside the St Georges Place frontage by next Summer.

Thank you, DaveR.

Yorkie, there are external awnings outside Caffe Nero on both sides for what they are worth.

'Tis the wind, Bri, that is the main problem.  It's either North East from the Prom or South West up Lloyd Street.   :D

I was in Llandudno last week and called in the Inglenook cafe restaurant, which is in Vaughn Street, opposite the railway station. I think it was previously called Cafe Monet. I only wanted a snack so had home made soup with warm bread rolls which was excellent! Had a peak at their menu and it looked   really interesting with breakfast, paninis, sandwiches, etc through to main meals and even a couple of Polish meals which sound interesting. They also do traditional afternoon teas.A Very good selection and I think well worth a look. Friendly people too and I wish them well, can be harder to make business when you're not in the main streets.

I too went into the Inglenook cafe last week and had one of the Polish dishes on the menu and it was fantastic, one of the tastiest meals i've had for ages and good value too.
