Diskos is an empty discount store, beside the empty formally Alworths / Woolworths store, opposite the Halifax Bank in Mostyn St.
There has been some activity inside recently, and when I enquired to lease it, I was informed over 2 months ago that it had indeed been let.

Three choices that we know of at the moment, Jumpers, Diskos and Wades are all under offer so it could be one of those. Z**

 8) Trawling through the retail property pages looking at Llandudno the old Woolworths does not come up on any of the agents, me thinks this tells us its not available.  D)

The RNLI are taking over an empty shop in St. George's Place to use as a base for their fundraising activities.

They will be spoilt for choice, are there any in St George's Place that are not empty in fact?

Lots of good news today in the Weekly News today.

It’s expected that contracts will soon be signed for Sainsbury’s to take over the former Woolworth’s store in Mostyn Street,
Very good news for the top end of town and, indeed, the town as a whole!  $good$

furniture giant DFS is due to open in the former Halford’s unit at the Mostyn Champneys retail park early in 2012.
This has been mentioned on here before as a possibility, so good to have it confirmed.

"High street coffee shop chain Caffe Nero is currently advertising for staff,  and is believed to be moving into the current Burton’s in Mostyn Street after the clothes store’s lease expires."
Burtons lease doesnt expire until 28/9/2012, so quite a wait for it to open...unless Burtons owners Arcadia Group surrender their lease (which I hear they are quite happy to do as that shop doesnt make any money and they want to concentrate on their Parc Llandudno store)

"Budget hotel chain TraveLodge is said to be close to completing a deal to buy the derelict former Clarence Hotel in Gloddaeth Street"
This isnt really correct. Travelodge will be letting the upper floors of the renovated building from a commercial property investor - they aren't buying the building themselves. The ground floor will be let separately as three units, with the central section being the Travelodge reception. The other two ground floor units will probably be used for restaurant and bar respectively. I believe the bar has already been let.

Looks as though Caffe Nero may offer the existing cafe operators on Mostyn Street some real competition:

"Within the top 3 branded chains Caffè Nero is ranked highest overall by Key Performance Indicators with first place in 7 out of 10 KPIs (coffee quality, atmosphere, value for money, speed of service, friendly service, food quality and cleanliness)"

I've long said that Burtons Corner would be ideal for a branded coffee shop operator - a superb location. I said on here a few weeks ago that a major coffee shop brand was interested in a prominent corner site currently in retail use but my contact thought it was Starbucks. Turned out to be Caffe Nero, which is nearly as good in my book!

Dave, I know you are a regular patron of many coffee establishments in the Three Towns area.

I think you will find that Caffe Nero is superior to Starbucks, and that an increased amount of your disposable income and time will be spent therein.  $dins$
