For a good Chinese at a reasonable price try Yeung Sing in Penrhyn Bay at the bottom of Penrhyn Hill.  We have used it many times and Kev, Ric and the Staff look after you well.  It has all the usual Chinese dishes and a few English for those who want it.  The surroundings are not resplendent but the place is always clean and tidy and the food enjoyable.  Our meal for two including beverages is normally around £25 to £30.
I don't know what Trip Advisor says about it.

They also have a place in Rhyl.

Reviews on Trip Advisor are mainly favourable:

This just goes to show how unreliable TripAdvisor ''can'' be.

The Emperor buffet in Llandudno was much better value for money when you and I tried it Dave, despite being very basic in its approach.  I would rather eat there.

Yeung Sing and East are also very good eateries.
We have not yet tried The Jasmine House.

I wouldn't say that, necessarily. I've found it to be pretty accurate.

Did you make your complaints known to the management?

If the food was poor I wouldn't have hesitated to complain, but it was good.
It was the overall eating experience, service and decor that were poor....

Have a look at the food hygiene ratings. Just type in "Scores on the doors" and you might get a shock !
(Don't bother looking for us-- We were only done 10 days ago-- and got 5- the maximum !)
I was horrified to see what some of the bigger establishments had been given !

It should be compulsory for very establishment to place the green sticker in their front window.

Every one I have seen so far in town has always been showing a 5.  &shake&

P.S. - Well done Nem on your 5.

It seems to me that almost without exception, it is the establishments who have attained the highest rating, (5 stars), who actually post them on their doors.  In the past I have looked at the ratings for all of the three towns, but it is only the poor performers that you tend remember, the 3's and 4's less so.   How much better the scheme would be if it were mandatory to display their score, not only would this inform the public, but it would also be a big incentive to the particular business receiving a low to score take steps to improve it.  However, I suppose like all systems, the methods applied to arrive at the ratings, will be rather rigid and some types of business may, try as they might, be unable to improve their score.

I think one must bear in mind that the rating is generally based on just one or two inspections and between the annual visits anything could be happening.  Only a complaint will occasion a non scheduled visit.   ZXZ

Yorkie, are you suggesting the inspectors telephone in advance to say they will be making a visit, which is a bit like the way our state schools are inspected?
