I'm not sure if this is the correct link to post this but while I was in Yspty Gwynedd recently having my hip replaced one of the nurses told me that she had heard that B & M Stores who are trading in Bangor, Rhyl, Wrexham,Portmadog etc locally and have 375 stores nationally, (and could best be described as a slightly downmarket and disorganised Home Bargains but do have some products that are very competitively priced) are taking over the two-storey Homebase store in the Penrhos Shopping Precinct in Holyhead but she wasn't sure if it was true or not. So while I was in there today (Bangor B & M), I asked a couple of the staff if it was true and they confirmed it and also that it would open in late August. As it happens I was in Homebase in Penrhos Holyhead recently and it was absolutely heaving, with 20%+ off everything but the staff, some of whom had been drafted in from Yorkshire for the closing period (end of June), could not tell me what was going to happen to the premises at that time.

Am i right in thinking the two empty shops on corners opposite Tudno castle belong to Mostyn estates,if so no to let signs in the window or on their website unlike their shop next to the Gallery.Very interesting,me thinks he must have tennants already.

B & M Stores  are taking over the two-storey Homebase store in the Penrhos Shopping Precinct in Holyhead but she wasn't sure if it was true or not.

There was an article about this in the Daily Post recently - http://www.dailypost.co.uk/business/business-news/holyhead-bm-set-take-over-7089344

Homebase announced they were going to close with the loss of 30 jobs but B&M subsequently announced they were going to take over the building and create 80 new jobs (although I suspect a lot of the B&M jobs will be part time/zero hours for them to require nearly three times as many employees as Homebase).

Actually, she has told 3 slightly conflicting stories to 3 different people.

1, Its closing down, because the shop is being sold from under her.
2, It's moving to a different location.
3, She is staying put, but changing YET AGAIN, to selling things like bacon butties, breakfasts etc.... to tradesmen.

Take your pick, nothing ever lasts very long anyway.

A new shop front is being installed, which will incorporate the entrance to the old Artillery club.

Talked to the builders as I went past today and was told it will be a Pound Bakers Shop.
