Marks & Spencers will seriously need to start thinking about a refit for their store now, as the new Sainsbury's will really show it up to be the shabby mess it is.
I don't think the new Sainsburys Local will be to much compertion for Marks and Spencer Ian. Take a look at the range of goods available in each shop for a start and then compare prices. They are both ripoff merchants. As for Marks needing a refit they are constantly revamping themselves; i.e. the new checkout system that has just gone in. Don't get me wrong. I'm glad to see the old Woolies shop brought back to life and I wish them every success but I shall still be doing my main shopping at ASDA

The GAME shop in Mostyn Street closed today, following the GAME group calling in the Administrators.

Panic buying of Petrol  in evidence at Asda this evening.  I might have missed something in the news today  but I'm sure the Unite Union have to give seven days notice of striking and even if they did that today (which I don't think they did)  then it's going to be at least next Monday before they can come out on strike. My guess would be that it will be planned to coincide with Easter weekend to have the most impact but then again maybe I'm old (definite) and cynical(definite again).

It was like that at Asda this morning and yesterday morning.

I suppose with the threat of a strike and petrol prices only heading one way, it makes good sense for shoppers to always top-up when visiting the store.

Just been up to Tesco's, cars are queuing almost to the roundabout.  Panic buying is here!

LSP closed early because they ran out!  The strike might not even happen!

That sounds like an even better reason to buy shares in an oil/petroleum company.

Any idea what might be going to Hooson's now that the Take a Break planning application has been withdrawn?

Gimbert's will be a cafe I seem to recall, yes?

Scaffolding going up there this morning.
Local rumour says another 'cafe' there, as Dave says, think he might know who is reputed to be behind it-- as I have also heard.

Queues were ridiculous for petrol when I came out of Asda this morning.

I'll ask him when I see him.
