I wonder if CCBC has any ideas of parking meters for the Craig Y Don Parade and the West Shore Parade in Llandudno bearing in mind that work of some description on a sea defence is going on in those places?

OOPS,  sorry Norman I wasn't thinking,   I hope it doesn't give Mostyn Estates any more ideas about a Park and Ride from Bodafon Farm

The sting in the tail of the £18m transformation of a North Wales promenade
Old Colwyn promenade reopened this spring after being shut for three years
A newly revamped promenade is set to introduce parking charges. Back in 2021 new works got underway in Old Colwyn - closing the promenade road between Splash Point (Old Colwyn Arches) and Rotary Way.

Not unreasonable, with the rise in costs, the council needs to find the funds for future maintenance work.

Council responds as 'tax on motorists' parking charges coming to seafront
Conwy council has explained why it's bringing in the charges at Old Colwyn

Cllr Goronwy Edwards, Cabinet Member for Infrastructure, Transport and Facilities, said: “In the light of the financial pressures we face, along with many other Councils, we have to balance our budget and find money for services. This includes raising revenue to contribute towards maintenance costs on major improvement projects, where we received grant funding for the original construction work.

"On Old Colwyn promenade, Rhos promenade and Cayley promenade, parking charges will only apply between 10am and 4pm, and there will be no charge for blue badge holders in designated disabled bays. This is in line with the promenade parking charges already in place at Llandudno and Colwyn Bay.

"There will be different tariffs for low season and high season – for 7 months of the year October to April, the tariff starts at £2.40 for up to 2 hours. When demand is higher with more visitors during the summer months, the tariff reflects that.

"We’d also like to let local residents know that if they regularly visit the promenade in their car, they can purchase an annual parking pass for £95, which works out at 26p a day. The electrical infrastructure for parking machines is already in place, as we have street lighting along the promenades and future plans for electric vehicle chargers.”...................https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/council-responds-tax-motorists-parking-30289924?IYA-reg=49560bcd-5a9c-47f0-8fc5-ba2e71710589

A CHRISTMAS market is to be held in Colwyn Bay next weekend.

Organised by Sandra Bellew, owner of Artisan’s Loft furniture shop, this will be based at Stadiwm CSM on Sunday (December 8).

Sandra said the idea for the event, which will be sponsored by Specsavers’ Colwyn Bay branch, is to “bring a bit of Christmas cheer to the area”.

The market will include 75 stalls, a Christmas grotto, a children’s fancy dress competition, gift-wrapping demonstrations, a tombola, raffles, and mulled wine.

There will also be live music performances from steel drums duo Pantastic, solo artist Nansi Rose, and Choirs for Good.

It will be held from 11am until 5.30pm, with a £2.50 entrance fee.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to initiatives including Colwyn Bay Community Hwb and Foodbank, The Kind Bay Initative, Tenovus Cancer Care, and the Colwyn Bay Pier Project.

Children aged younger than 16 are allowed free entry, but must be accompanied by an adult.

I haven't been to Colwyn Bay Promenade since Storm Darragh came but I've been told that it's covered in sand.     I'm not surprised because although I live about a mile and a half away our cars and house windows have a thick coating of sand and sea spray on them.
I've cleaned the car and mowed up the debris in the garden so the next job is cleaning the muck off the house windows and then repairing the garden gate that the storm damaged

The Life of Terry exhibition at Theatr Colwyn, as the public fundraiser for a statue of Terry Jones nears its £120,000 target.

Monty Python changed comedy forever, with the Pythons' stream-of-consciousness style resonating with fans to this day.

Terry Jones, alongside fellow Pythons Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, and Michael Palin, became stars overnight for their sketch comedy.

But Terry Jones' connection to Colwyn Bay is special - he was born in the town and his parents were amateur theatre actors who often performed at Theatr Colwyn.

Theatr Colwyn, they are celebrating Colwyn Bay's favourite son with an exhibition dedicated to the man - The Life of Terry, a play of words on Monty Python's Life of Brian film.

The exhibition shows hundreds of unseen photographs, scripts, posters and letters by Terry Jones and Monty Python.

The Life of Terry is a staggering archive of the comedian's best work, and contains unseen stills from some sketches.
