If you see this lady turning in clockwise you are using your right brain. If you see it the other way, you are using left brain. Some people do see both ways, but most people see it only one way.
See if you can make her go one way and then the other by shifting the brain’s current.
BOTH DIRECTIONS CAN BE SEEN.
Experimentation has shown that the two different sides, or hemispheres of the brain are responsible for different manners of thinking.
Most individuals have a distinct preference for one of these styles of thinking. Some, however, are more whole-brained and equally adept at both modes. In general, schools tend to favor left-brain modes of thinking, while downplaying the right-brain activities.
Left-brain scholastic subjects focus on logical thinking, analysis, and accuracy. Right-brained subjects, on the other hand, focus on aesthetics, feeling, and creativity..

I see it both ways - alternating, in fact.

She goes clockwise for me.
p.s. Have you got her phone number, Trojan?

I see it clockwise. :golf:
I thought you have her number Dave......it's the same as mine. D)

Anti-clockwise for me.

Amazing what a couple of pints of Guinness can do. Z**

Indeed. <:<:<:<

This has got to be a case of The Emperors new clothes .... she turns clockwise!!
How can it possibly turn a different way?
Are you all having yourselves on .... Come on Dave admit it, you are only SAYING that to seem very clever! (OK even clever-er)
Andy (Merrdin) ... we've already established that your brain works in a very odd way ... from the psychmetric test! So anything can happen with you!!
No, I'm not having this ... she turns clockwise, and thats the end of it !

Its easy, you just will her to go in the other direction and she does 8) Helen can do it too :D Try Z** and see if it works ;D

Fester, I saw this on the internet a while ago. It was said that those with a high IQ. were able to see the image rotate in either direction. Perhaps that's your problem. ;D
-
Have had a couple of drinks tonight and suddenly she is going both ways -
does this then mean your IQ goes up after a drink or two!!
-

Mr Quiggs...(or is it Mrs Quiggs??) ....
I have been insulted by better people than you ..on better blogs than this ..
Well no, I haven't actually.
I have all the A-levels in the world ... but the bird turns clockwise alright?
-
It was said that those with a high IQ. were able to see the image rotate in either direction.
Buy that person a drink!

EEEK !! :o :o :o
I have been back to the spinning bird...and I think there is something very odd going on.
She was turning clockwise, as always, but then I touched the screen (nowhere inappropriate I hasten to add) ... and she changed direction.
This happened 4 or 5 times ..... its a trick, it has to be.

Not I, sir; probably just Fester's IQ growing from sensory overload.. *&(

If you really want to see her change direction just switch your gaze to the shadow for a moment. When you return to the main image it will be going the other way. Q.E.D. ££$

You're right Yorkie, it just worked for me! D)
-
Yes, thats what I was doing, without realising it.
But how can this mean that one uses one side of the brain or the other, if in fact you can change it at will?
A trick methinks.
-
Ye thinks correctly! But without the shadow the predominant movement is clockwise and it is difficult to visually change direction of rotation to anti-clockwise - unless, of course, one is in the Southern Hemisphere. :speechless:
Think of water going down a plughole. . . . . . . *&(

Take a look at the attached photo, taken in Armenia of a woman in National Dress. Nothing unusual about it, until you learn that it was taken back in 1910!

-
I think it's the dress that is 1910 not the photograph! ))*
-
Hard to believe, I know, but the photo was taken in 1910. This photo of the Nikolaevskii Cathedral was taken in 1911:

Quite astonishing, Dave. I knew about the primary recombination system of taking colour pics, but I've never actually seen the results until now.
-
Over the years many people have said to me how much the Little Orme reminds them of an Elephant...
I could never really see it myself, until I took this picture earlier today.... see what I mean?
-
No one seems to be impressed with my Elephant... :( :( :'( :weeping:
-
Methinks you have too much time on your hands. ;D
-
No, I AM DEAD IMPRESSED. Especially as you state you took it earlier on today and the post was timed at 12,40 a.m. or thereabouts? You trying to beat Dave's night shots? Seriously, it shows the elephant similarity up fine, if you've got the time I would get this on Flicker under some title like "Spot the Elephant."

Shows how little I have been reading the forum, I have missed out on some very interesting stuff here. The spinning lady was cool, I perceived it as initially as spinning clockwise, though with a little brain power I could turn her the other way. Not easily done, but could do it. Cool.
-
That one IS VERY cool ... at first I thought it was a con. But it drives me nuts when I go back to it...
-
Now which one would that be Fester? ))*
-
????? I was responding about the rotating woman optical illusion, Yorkie ????

Ah! I see now. Must learn to read things twice! ZXZ

Yes, there are many other great photo sets. I liked this one especially:

The pre-WWII photos are chilling, and even more so when you remember that the incredible death and destruction which they foretold was brought about through the twin forces of the depression and consequently virulent nationalism. It seems we've learnt very little since then.
-
Ian, I was thinking about posting almot exactly the same thing.... but I knew I would be seen as a doom-monger.
But you are absolutely right, and the feeling of it building up again is tangible.

Bioluminescent plankton hunters capture 'magical' glow.
"Every splash, every jump, made the sea just light up. It won't be an experience we forget easily."
Photographers and nature lovers have been watching bioluminescent plankton glowing off the Welsh coast.
Bioluminescence describes the light that some living creatures, such as fireflies and jellyfish, emit from their cells.
Photographer Kris Williams captured the first sighting in Wales this year in Beaumaris, Anglesey on 24 June.
