Title: Food Banks in supermakets
Post by: Hugo on May 20, 2025, 09:07:58 am
In principle it is a great way of helping the vulnerable and poor in our society, especially in these difficult times, but is it open to abuse from people who take advantage of the circumstances?

The food banks are not regulated or have anyone in attendance to make sure that the food is given to those people who need it.      In Lidl's recently someone had bought a small amount of food but after paying for that food they stopped at the food bank and filled up their trolley with the free food from the food bank
In Morrisons you don't even have to go in the shop and make a token purchase.     A person went in and just helped themselves to the food because it was free.    Normally that would go unnoticed but the person taking the free food lived in a mortgage free house worth over £750K  and is known to be very wealthy even if he is a miser

Hi Hugo. I volunteer at the Ty hapus foodbank.  We pick up from Lidl in junction , the basket is always full. But this week pickup hardly anything in it. We’ve had that a few times.    In our foodbank you require a refural off the council  housing CAB  or the police. we had to bring that in as we got conned a few times. Selling the food for their drugs / booze.  We always give enough for nearly a week. And more. We acknowledge the problem doesn’t go away in a few weeks so we will help until they get sorted.

Norman,  you're doing a really good and rewarding job so well done and keep it up.     It was nice to learn that Ty Haus is so well run and organised as we need to look after and protect those people less fortunate than ourselves.
Unfortunately the minority spoil it for the majority and take advantage of other peoples generosity.     That person that helped himself to the food bank free food was a millionaire and that is not conjecture but is a fact.     I'll tell you more when I next see you
