Whilst looking through the BBC web page on ghosts in the local area:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/northwest/sites/llandudno/pages/weird.shtml (http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/northwest/sites/llandudno/pages/weird.shtml)
..and that got me thinking...have any forum members experienced anything of that nature? I don't believe in ghosts myself, in spite of having had ample opportunity to see them, having explored many large, empty old properties on my own in North Wales (like Gwrych Castle - below), that you would presume would have resident ghosts.

I haven't seen any ghosts and although I am quite cynical I try to keep an open mind. My father told me a story about a ghost in Deganwy and he heard it first hand from the owner of the property that had the ghost. I didn't see it but there was no reason for the owner of the property to lie about it either.
The same can be said about UFO's too, but myself and a friend saw one in Llandudno in the 1960's although I never mentioned it to anyone but my closest friends until recent times.
-
Maenan Abbey has a Spiritualist evening every month.
UFOs - well, they obviously exist - by definition :-)) But exactly what most are is where the fun begins.

I understand there is a ghost of Lady Augusta ( I think) in Gloddaeth Hall. I haven't encountered it myself but who knows? Spooky subject for thos time of year!! WWW

Penrhyn old Hall is said to be haunted

The Albion is without doubt haunted. Quite often we'd be working the bar when suddenly all the beers would stop, this is usually caused by the gas running out, so it was a quick trip to the cellar to change the bottle. Many times the staff and myself would go down and realise the bottle wasn't empty the valve had been turned off. This can not happen on its own and the cellar is obviously always locked.
Another time myself, hubby and Paul the bar man were talking behind the bar when suddenly 2 bottles of real ale flew off the shelf and smashed 2' away by the pumps...impossible but we all witnessed it.
As I've mentioned before my sister lived in the Albion with us for a few years, she was locking up one night, she'd checked no one was left in the toilets etc then went to Z the till. Next thing she came running upm the stairs her hair standing on end and terrified (it was really funny) she refused to go back down saying someone was whistling in the bar.
The boy was 5 yrs old when we moved in and before long was refusing to sleep in his room, saying a man kept waking him up in the night. He wouldn't lie he was 5, more than that my Hubbys lad was 13yrs and when he stayed over he said the same.
Countless things were moved from one place to another all the time.
I always made myself feel better by calling the ghost Bob. We even had Uk Paranormal come one night, they took loads of pictures of orbs, it was very interesting. aaa.gif

I have to tell you about the scariest night I ever had in the Albion. I was sanding down the pool room floor, it was about half 2 in the morning (all renovation work had to be done over night). I needed the loo, not wanting to wake up my family upstairs I used the customer toilets. The pub was silent as I washed my hands, I grabbed one of the paper towels and suddenly someone went "Pssst". I kid you not, I flew out of the toilets ran down the corridor into the pool room, nearly in tears and totally terrified I held the door shut, as I pulled myself together trying to breathe I realised I'd had new automatic air fresheners put in the loos that day.
I felt a right plank.

Found a snippet about the Albions' ghosts here in the Daily Post from 2007:

Previous landlords recall hearing parties in the early hours, only to find the bar eerily deserted on venturing downstairs to check on the commotion. Others have found old pennies left on the bar for milk stouts long since consumed.
-
Ha ha, I remember reading this. I've still got the "Lepers Corner" sign, its under the bar at the club. My mate made it for me in protest of the smoking ban. The landlord that heard the parties at night was John Davies, he's told me many times the story. He'd had an argument with his girlfriend and come home to the pub early. He went to bed, around 2am he woke to the sound of people laughing and playing pool, he thought his girlfriend had bought people back for a lock in. Absolutly fuming he ran to the top of the stairs, he said he was putting his trousers on as he came down the stairs to the bar door, he flung the door open and the pub was in complete darkness with no one there, he wouldn't lie either.
-
Our eldest tells us the Maenan is haunted . Mind you, they don't serve spirits after 1100....

But what's the explanation? A host of people all experiencing strange happenings at different times can't be put down to the imagination
I'm wondering if The Albion Vaults was built within close proximity to a Ley Line
As you probably know the earth itself is magnetized etc and has natural energy running through it (emf). Ley lines are like veins of energy running through the earth, just like the veins in your hand and as such you will find little Ley lines and some are larger and more powerful. Sites such as Stone Henge are built right on top of such a Ley line.
As general understanding suggests, ghosts need energy to exist and manifest etc and it is a general occurrence that a large percentage of haunting are based with a Ley line in close proximity to them.
-
When UK Paranormal came to investigate they put special cameras all over the pub and we did a seance. Now I had been calling the ghost Bob for some time, UKP said the Albion was haunted by more than one ghost, but funnily enough one was called Robert Marshall he was about 30yrs old (made my skin crawl to be honest) Apparently in the early 1800 the front part of the Albion was used as a chemist type shop selling herbal remedies, one day a local girl came in she was 14yrs old, Roberts made her a concoction for her stomach pains, he later found out the young girl was actually pregnant and the concoction he had given her had an adverse effect and she died 2 days later. Racked with guilt Roberts is said to have hung himself in Benarth Woods. Benarth Woods is said to be haunted by the ghost of a young man who indeed hung himself in the woods (could it be the same Robert?) None of this has been investigated as I wouldn't know where to start.
-
When one thinks of ghosts, generally it's a person or persons who have passed under traumatic circumstances many years ago. However, this does not explain the crowded pub and the pool playing experienced by a previous landlord. Did a group of people in the bar all die tragically there once?
It has been suggested that haunting is a form of energy that has been 'etched' into the immediate surroundings, especially if the Earth's energy is strong, as in the presence of a Lay Line. A traumatic event like a person hanging themselves, would emit extra ordinary electrical brainwaves (abnormal stress) from them just before they expire. These electrical impulses are then 'etched' into the Earth's electrical energy in the surrounding area, in layman's terms, similar to a tape recording - you speak into a tape recorder, and you can playback what you have just said.
-
The guy haunting the living quarters is reputed to be a past landlord who had a heart attack in one of the rooms upstairs. I was told it was the room where my sons room was before we had to swap round as he was too scared to sleep in there. Bless (he was only 5 at the time)
-
There's never been any evidence of supernatural forces, ghosts spirits or clairvoyance that's been established beyond doubt. There are, however, a lot of people who make money out of those who want to believe.
Ley Lines (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ley_line) were never supposed to be anything other than neolithic footpaths.
-
The same could be said in the belief of a Supreme Being and an afterlife.
-
Trojan your right, although conclusive ev idence for spirits etc has nor been proved, there is an awful lot of documentation, photos and peoples accounts that can't be explained away either.
The same thing goes for UFOs if they don't exsist.then why the secret files, why are pilots etc swarn to silence. Respectable people have made accounts of both sightings of UFOs and ghosts etc.
We couldn't see orbs etc until the advent of the digital camera. We couldn't see stars and other planets until they invented Hubble.
-
Maybe you could take some photo's of your orbs Angie. 8)

Plas Mawr in Conwy, is reputedly one of the most haunted places in Wales. The photo below is what's believed to be an orb captured on camera to the right, just above the bed.
-
in my opinion ghosts do exist (although certainly not every bump in the night is a ghost 0 ) , supernatural forces exist and there is much evidence for ufo's existing, however there are many who just want to trick you out of money by wrongly claiming powers they don't have, which brings disrepute on the whole subject :(

I've never been convinced by photos of 'orbs' as far as I can tell its just dust particles?

How about this one spotted outside Aberconwy House, another reputedly haunted house in Conwy?

Not long after Michael Jackson passed, his supposed ghost was apparently seen on an American news reel, whilst they were filming inside his Neverland mansion. Maybe his presence has been 'etched' into the immediate surroundings?

Hello locals,
Having stayed at most of the hotels in the town,do you have any stories, sightings etc etc, just need to spook the wife next time we come down.
-
About a year ago, this question was asked on the forum.... but got no replies.
A shame, because it would have been nice to have heard a few spooky stories, and given all the shambling, historic old buildings in Llandudno/Conwy I thought there would have been quite a good response.
Plas Mawr in Conwy is reputedly haunted, but the 'Most Haunted' TV investigation which was held there was very boring indeed.

I was just reading through this thread and thought I don't remember reading this post about Michael Jacksons ghost.....so I had a look and nearly had a cardiac arrest, seriously sharp intake of breath. even Stuart the manager in the Albion now, says he has items going missing and moving from one place to another.

Aaarggh!!!! Why did you post that?? That nearly had me in intensive care.... seriously!
I would advise anyone of a nervous disposition NOT to watch that clip... I wish I hadn't

OMG so do I !!

Yes it kinda woke me up as well ! ;D

http://www.reddit.com/r/LetsNotMeet/comments/tj2uc/the_bridge/ (http://www.reddit.com/r/LetsNotMeet/comments/tj2uc/the_bridge/)
This is (was) going to be short, but the memory sprung into my mind a couple days back and I thought it would be worth sharing.
I live in North Wales, UK. For anyone who has had the pleasure of visiting, it truly is a beautiful place to live, though, for an adolescent boy, it is certainly lacking in things to do. As a result, my friends and I would often find ourselves mindlessly exploring areas of countryside and coastline.
Despite it being quite sparsely populated, in comparison to the closest cities, there is a dual carriageway running right along the coast from Wales into England. Also, train tracks run alongside this road for most of its course, occasionally passing overhead via a small cement bridge.
Anyway, there was one night a few years ago, when about four of us randomly decided to try and explore the inside of one of these bridges, as one of the group had observed a man-hole cover nearby which we believed to be the entrance. On closer inspection, we discovered that several tools would be required in order to gain entry.
We returned with the necessary equipment and proceeded to unbolt the cover. This had to be done stealthily as the train track was right beside us, not close enough to be of any danger, but definitely a sufficiently small distance to cause panic for any train driver. And panic usually means Police.
It wasn't long before we had removed the heavy steel disc, and had started descending the ladder down into the structure. Once we had all safely reached the bottom, we decided to progress to the other side. At this point, we are totally confined into the narrow space that leads into the main area. If you are confused as to what the hell this 'bridge' is supposed to be, you probably should be, because it was rather peculiar. I mean, I would have never known there was even an inside had we not found the man-hole.
So, as we squeeze and crouch, and at one point scrape along our bellies, to the other side of the structure there is a growing sense of claustrophobia between us. The distance from end to the other is surprisingly long, but by the halfway point you can look down through narrow gaps onto the motorway below. This was actually pretty cool, which helped keep us calm, in a strange way.
At this point, apart from the mild discomfort and confinement, we were still just a group of guys on an adventure. This was about to change dramatically.
No more than a few metres beyond halfway (which we could tell due to the symmetry of the passageways through the bridge), one of us claimed they could see some object in the distance at the far end. Slightly hesitantly, we agreed to investigate. Bad move.
I reached the end first, and let me tell you, I have never felt the same sense of dread before or since. In front of me was a single fold-away chair positioned facing a wall. On the wall was a partially torn page from a newspaper, or a magazine, showing a fully naked lady in an erotic position. The reason I don't just refer to it as 'porn' is because something was different about it; I can't put my finger on it but it seemed more sinister than sexy, if that makes any sense.
More disturbingly the eyes of the woman on display had been cut from the page. Removed with precision, not just hastily ripped off. The scene that lay before us had rendered us completely speechless, and an overpowering sense of panic could be felt collectively. That was when we found the condom. The horrendous, gut-wrenching, blood-drenched condom.
Needless to say we got the feck out of there as fast as humanly possible, smashing our knees and shins against the sharp cement edges, that lined the path to the ladder by which we had entered. Of course, we were all praying to God that the man-hole hadn't been re-sealed, as it was impossible to tell until you reached the ladder itself. Thankfully the exit route was clear, and we promptly dashed as far away as our legs could carry us.
I'm sure this ending comes as a disappointment to some of you reading this, as we (luckily) never bumped into the twisted individual who sits in that chair, but I must stress how radically out of the norm this was given where I live. The reason I mentioned the population earlier was with purpose; there is easily enough people here to escape the realms of 'crazy country folk', yet nowhere near enough people to have someone clearly lose grip on society without somebody taking notice. For example, there was literally only one homeless man, who everyone in the area knew and grew fond of, eventually resulting in a mass gathering at his funeral when he passed away.
I sometimes think, though not recently as I had more-or-less forgotten about that night entirely, about the person who climbs down into that bridge and navigates through the darkness to sit facing a wall, and do God-knows-what, that ends up with a condom full of blood. You honestly couldn't envision a more surreal situation.
It has just come to my realisation that what we unearthed that night has not once been uttered to another soul. As a naive teenager, it was the type of thing you just wanted to forget, but thinking about we probably should have let the Police, or at least someone know about what was down there, because it wasn't the doings of a healthy-minded individual.
So, there you have it. Apologies for the length, I got a little carried away as it is my first LNM post and I wanted to make the reading experience as similar to the reality as I could. Now I'm a few years older, and hopefully a bit braver, I'm considering going down there again, accompanied of course, to see what fucked up doggy doos might be waiting. This could well happen in the next couple days, and rest assured I will 100% post an update as I currently have no job, so time is plentiful!
Thanks for reading.
EDIT: As promised, here are the photos from the return visit. We went early evening, so there was still plenty of light, and as a result I have decided to use a simple filter on most of the outdoor shots, simply to reduce the light, and give it the eeriness it deserves.
Unfortunately, I hadn't adequately conveyed my plans to those accompanying me, and they had presumed I just wanted to check out the small area before the entrance to the passageways, as they had been there before. When I expressed my wishes to navigate through the bridge, they instantly nope'd the feck out of there! As you can imagine, I was massively disappointed. I hope to go back soon with a different bunch of guys, but I can't promise when.
Perhaps, if everyone who would like to see the re-return visit, just leaves a single comment saying 'Update', I could reply to you individually so you don't have to keep checking back, just wait for a message? Just a thought.
Either way, the pictures are definitely worth your time! Thanks again guys :)
EDIT 2
The Bridge; Revisited
Here are the pictures taken from last nights' return to The Bridge. This will be the last time I venture down there. Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoy...

It's in Old Colwyn, you have to expect that sort of thing.

Replying to Pendragon re. Albion. I can confirm all of what Pendragon said about Albion ghosts. Without hearing about it before, I have had heard rowdy discussions in the pub at 3am, gone to check what was going on and nothing but darkness and an empty pub. Things get moved from room to room all the time. At first I was a little scared, but now it's mainly irritating. Whistling!! I coughed into my cup of tea when I just read that! yesterday, someone kept whistling quite loud behind me when I was cleaning and at one point I was so unnerved, I dashed upstairs. Heavy boots on the tiles in the hallway- when there is no-one there All The Time. Bottles and glasses seemingly jump off the shelves, this happens that often now that customers are shocked when it happens, but us working just shrug it off! (apart from when a glass just glanced past a barmans' head, that was a little worrying).
-
Hmmm, perhaps the TV show 'Most Haunted' should have done its investigation in The Albion Pub.
Instead of Plas Mawr, where nothing at all happened, it was rubbish and a waste of time.
-
I joined this forum because I googled 'albion conwy ghost' as I was so intrigued. Flabbergasted when I read what pendragon had written. Exactly the same things as I experienced.
Very odd.
I had to put in my tuppence-worth. Apart from strange things happening, I still (on the whole) feel quite relaxed in the building. We have had a couple of nice things happen too, which eases ones' mind.

A seldom used thread this, especially since everyone has a digital camera or iPhone these days, ghosts have become redundant.
But, I did like this picture of an 'apparition' caught at Plas Rhianfa recently

Ghosts in the area DownUnder from Llandudno
This thread caught my interest due to a number of strange happenings in the research into my own extended family history.
The first issue is a normal household suddenly engulfed in smoke to the extent that the fire brigade is called, but no source is found for the smoke.
In a forgotten corner of Brisbane lies a tunnel which half a century ago became the scene of Australia’s most sensational ghost experience.
On Saturday 20 November 1965 a group of teenagers sparked an event still recalled by Brisbanites 50 years later.
They came to see if there really was a ghost in the old subway tunnel at Victoria Park.
One of them claimed to have seen it – describing it as an armless, legless, headless blueish-white, luminous, transparent thing that came towards him – The Thing of Victoria Park!
The story sent the media into a frenzy, within days hundreds decided they had to see it for themselves.
Following an article in the Sunday Mail on 21 November 1965, around 1,000 people gathered at the tunnel trying to spot the ghost.
By 22 November, there were 1500.
By 8 O’clock in the evening on 23 November 1965 the crowd had grown to 2000 people, who packed the subway to stare at the concrete walls.
Estimates put nightly figures of ghostwatchers gathering in the park as high as 5000 at any one time.
Thousands of people of all ages, including families and children made their way down into this rarely used part of Brisbane, to see if they could see the ghost.
The event took on a carnival air with fairy floss sellers and even Ice Cream Vans catering to the crowds.
People young and old donned sheets over their heads and dared each other to walk through the tunnel.
Brisbane, and indeed Australia, had never seen anything like it.

not really a ghost story or is it ? i work as a driver for conwy council we have two identical 15 ton daf cardboard/plastic collection wagons both built and delivered at the same time one reg.xoh has performed faultlessly the other reg.anu has acted odd to say the least !!! before covid test station took over the builder street coach park we parked our wagons there myself and another colleague witnessed some weird things with wagon reg.anu one dark morning in the winter we were having a chat doing our daily vehicle checks when we both saw the hazard lights flash once followed by the reverse bleeper going off on the unoccupied vehicle we laughed it off but both agreed it was a bit weird since then other drivers have reported headlights suddenly coming on while doing their checks and the cab interior lights glowing as they approach !!! to add to this the wagon has also central locked when the driver is out of the cab to the extent that if ive driven it i make sure the window is open before getting out faults have happened to this wagon that should never occur on an otherwise reliable series of daf trucks haunted? i dont know dodgy wiring ? possibly still makes me feel uncomfortable near the bloody thing !!!!!!

Gaztrucker. Has it been stood or run through deep floodwater at some time. Electrics dont like that.

hi mull this wagon has acted weird since the day it was delivered its on 17 plate so its not an old wagon our transport garage dont like it either things happen to this thing that should never happen on a 17 plate motor im not saying its like the 58 plymouth from that film "christine" but shes not a good one !!!! just maybe a friday afternoon build ?
