Title: CAVES IN LLANDUDNO
Post by: juney on May 09, 2012, 02:23:50 pm
Hi,

My mother was born in Llandudno in the 1920's and she did mention that a relation of hers lived in a cave. She didnt elaborate as I believe she was embarassed. I am more interested and would like any information on this subject.

Thanks

June

Hi,
Welcome, if you search 'cave' in the search box at the top, lots will come up on this site, if you put a surname as well hopefully you will find what you are looking for  ££$

There are four names that I know of that have lived in caves in Llandudno,  John Stevens, Gwilym Hughes, John Thomas and the most well known family Miriam and Isaac Jones.
There were many children from Isaac and Miriam's marriage and the ones I have known have been really nice people.

Something in the back of my brain tells me that there was a Knowles family that were cave dwellers on the Gt Orme in the late 19th Century.
Not sure if I read that in Ivor Wynne Jones' book.... or somewhere else.

There was a press article about the Knowles family being forced to live in a windswept cave on the Orme in 2011 1972 after being made homeless.
