Title: The New year Wish List
Post by: wrex on December 12, 2010, 08:27:58 pm
 8) Just thought i would get in early with my wish list for the town and i will try and be realistic
1  Work to start on Llandudno railway station.
2  That Llandudno gets a proper xmas illumination display the Queen deserves for buisnesses and residents alike.
3  Highways to sort out Mostyn Champneys ,the lights on Conwy rd exit and a crossing on Mostyn Broadway across too Venue Cymru.
4  Venu Cymru Arena, more work by the management to bring in more pop groups and bring in buisness to the town.
5  The one we would love would be CCBC sorting out the Pier Pavillion, but hey REALISTIC not.
It would be nice to see these subjects appear on the next agenda of the town council meeting.

Speak tp your local Councillor and ask him/her to get these things put down as Agenda Items.  Better still write to the Mayor asking the same and it is her DUTY to see that it is done.  Mind you being an Agenda item does not guarantee any action.      ££$

I fully expect that Wrex might as well copy and paste this wishlist into the same thread one year from now.... nothing will be done in 2011

::)  Unfortunatley Fester you are right but lets not give up on our beloved Councillors delivering for once.
6  To see the FOTWS[friends of the West Shore] achieve something.
7  To get the town beach cleared, Olwen tried and tried but alas no good, god bless.

There really is no reason the Venue Cymru wish can't be met. The problem with that venue is the mentality behind the people booking the acts, not the venue itself. As was demonstrated by the Motorhead show and other popular acts recently these shows bring a different cash spending crowd into town. We don't need any more acts aimed at the senior OAP demographic, let's start getting the youth away from driving into Liverpool or Manchester for their music when it can be part of the North Wales musical lanscape as well.

Perhaps we can insist that someone of a more youthful orientation become a part of the booking team at VC?

Good idea Mr Falafel, just as long as its at the expense of TWO other positions at VC.   There are already something like 90 staff, and it loses £30,000 per week,   ..so lets not ADD to it!

At least it was a proper Panto this year and not like the Craig Revel Hallwood appreciation Society show we had to endure last year. That Linda Lusardy as the fairy godmother is still well worth a second glance  :o

Title: 2012
Post by: wrex on December 13, 2011, 09:07:50 pm
Well at the moment things look as if 2012 might bring us Cafe Nero, Sainsburys, Traveloodge,a new station,DFS , and whatever comes below Travelodge so these things look encouraging for the new year. Oh and a local election, when the deadwood get kicked of and the old reliables stay on to lead the new recruits to their way of thinking.Lets pray that we get some new strong councillors who will stand up to the old guard and their party leaders and work for the town and not themselves or their party.

Treasurer is only empowered to release funds in accord with the wishes of the team captain and general secretary.
Please instigate a consultation process with them.
In the case of cheese sandwiches, I support your stance on this, and will join you in lobbying the catering committee on this crucial issue!

I realise your access to the swimming pool is becoming something of a long-standing joke, F, but you might actually be eligible for some compensation.  I've been looking at their leaflet for Ffitt Conwy and there's actually no mention of restrictions.  Even their website states

Quote
Ffit Conwy is more than just a leisure membership, it is a way of life. The card allows you access to a range of 16 activities at 8 of our leisure sites. All you have to do is choose the centre and activity that suits you.

Contractually, they're stating 'All you have to do..." when, from your various accounts, it seems there's actually a lot more you have to do.

I've never been the litigious type Ian, but where this is issue is concerned I would be mightily tempted.
It's all about the frustration you see.

I am sure that deep within the terms and conditions of membership there will be a clause about 'Management reserve the right to amend opening times or 'the offer' or suchlike.

To me, the issue is more about how keen they are to gather new members, and get new subscriptions in to the coffers.
When you ask the question about Pool usage, they always say that there is 'no problem' or 'it's unlimited'.
The reality kicks in when you study the colourful timetable leaflet in detail, or worse, actually turn up clutching your swimming cossie, eager to use the membership that you so extravagantly pay for.

Quite.  I suspect the only way they'll stop messing people abut (and I'm sure you ain't the only one) is if someone makes waves. Whatever clauses are there are largely irrelevant as they're probably within the remit of the 'Unfair contractual terms' legislation. It would, admittedly, come down to what is considered 'reasonable' as do so many contractual issues, but from what you've posted it does seem as though they're not upholding their end of the contract.

It's that simple: are you getting what you paid for and were promised?

Most definitely not Ian, and I am sorely tempted.

However, there is only one thing more frustrating than not getting what you pay for, and that is tackling those faceless monoliths who are responsible.

SKY TV and HMRC are the very worst examples of that.

Given how unbelievably difficult it is to file my Self Assesment online, I cannot understand how HMRC receive any revenue at all!

Yes;  I must admit the battle I had with HMRC was incredible, and took over four years before they finally caved.

Yes;  I must admit the battle I had with HMRC was incredible, and took over four years before they finally caved.

I wonder if that could be the result of the Government cutting 3,600 jobs from the revenue collecting side of HMRC, even though they actually collected far more money than it cost to run their department.   ))*

Good time to think what CCBC should make their priorities for the next 12 months.
