Title: Live Music
Post by: DaveR on October 08, 2010, 05:48:51 pm
I'm a big fan of live music locally and few acts are, I think, better than Future Perfect, an electronic duo from the local area. This is them performing in the Gresham, Llandudno:

Nay, lad.  :P She's a good singer certainly, but she isn't a local (she's from Devon) and sings along to pre-recorded backing tracks of other act's music. Future Perfect write/perform all their own stuff live.  Z**

I know this !
I also know that when Lemmy formed the band he thought he was too old (at age 30) to put a new band together.
35 years later they are still banging out great performances!

There are 2 T-shirts below ....  one for me (which I own and WILL be wearing in 3 weeks time) ...  and a nice one for Trojan !

Russian choral concert by Blagovest Ensemble.

More information on Blagovest can be found on their own website.  (http://blagovest.webs.com/)

There was a very enthusiastic response to last year's concert and we are sure that this year's will be equally enjoyable.

Enjoying this track from Oasis at the moment!

Oooo Nemesis, you like the young good looking boys. Ha, just like me but don't tell!

My music listening life was transformed when I heard a chance remark in a pub about Spotify. How good is that! I was like a child in a sweet shop when I first discovered it. I was able to put in any track from my old LP's that I hadn't been able to listen to for years. Now I like to pick up suggestions from them as to what I may like and go through the new releases looking for new artists.

Trouble is all the ones which I liked from the 60s are now dead. P. J.  Proby is still around, in fact he was here again recently, but I didn't care for the other acts with him, so gave it a miss.
My OH's favourite comedian and vocalist is 87 today.

We went to see the tribute band "Rumours of Fleetwood Mac" last night at Venue Cymru. In a very professional two and a half show they faithfully reproduced the sounds of the band, whose catalogue spans four decades. They consisted of a six-piece band and also featured two girl vocalists with very strong voices and harmonies, one of which played keyboards as well. They were all very musically talented and proficient, especially the lead guitarist and the male keyboards player, who also featured on guitar, banjo, mandolin and harmonica as well as singing!
At the start of the second set the male members of the band played some of the early Peter Green blues numbers as well as the haunting "Albatross", before the girls came back to lead up to a storming finale which was very well received by the audience. A great night out, highly recommended, but a shame the auditorium was only about half-full, although they do come to Llandudno quite regularly and a lot of people have probably seen them before.

Top club promoters Cream and Happy Mondays’ Bez are to headline Surf Snowdonia’s first Electric Wave Festival, the Daily Post can reveal today.

Announcing the line-up for the three day summer event, organisers said they hoped to bring up to 3,000 music lovers to the Conwy Valley venue.
Cream, who ran club nights in Liverpool and Ibiza among others, will host a tent with Welsh electronic stars, K-Klass.

General Levy and DJ Yoda will also be playing sets while live music will come from Showhawk, former Stone Roses guitarist Aziz Ibrahim, Baby Queens and the UK Chili Peppers.

We had the pleasure last Sunday of attending a Family Concert by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales at Venue Cymru. The concert was designed to get children interested in classical music and was very well organised, with renditions of pieces by Bizet, Beethoven, Stravinsky etc interspersed with explanations of the different parts of the orchestra. Over 600 people attended and it was very enjoyable!  $good$
