PLANS have been submitted for nearly 300 homes on farm land in Abergele.

A planning application has been submitted to Conwy County Borough Council on behalf of Countryside Partnerships, a housebuilding and urban regeneration company, for 297 houses on land North and South of St George Road with access from St George Road. Proposals also take in associated public open space, internal highways, car parking, residential gardens, landscaping and associated works.

Update on above......

AN MS has described proposals to build 300 homes in Abergele as "crazy".

?Whilst I appreciate the need for more homes in North Wales, it is vital that we consider the impact such a development would have on our already overstretched services. Our schools are at capacity and residents are already struggling to access local health services.

Police and Crime Commissioner surgery coming to Abergele ? residents urged to book their place
North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner Andy Dunbobbin is holding an advice surgery at the Community Centre on Market Street for residents of Abergele and surrounding areas from 2-4pm on September 20 as part of the PCC?s mission to bring policing closer to the people of the region. The initiative will enable local people to discuss policing in their communities and to raise any concerns or comments they might have with the Commissioner.

The Commissioner and officers will be happy to talk through matters that affect residents in their local community. Attendees will have 20 minutes to speak with the Commissioner, who will be accompanied by representatives from his office to provide the maximum possible assistance to the public. The conversations will remain confidential, and the Commissioner, officers and staff will be able to provide further signposting if an issue can be more appropriately dealt with by other agencies and organisations.

The Police and Crime Commissioner has four main duties, they are to set the priorities for policing in North Wales; to decide the budget for North Wales Police; to listen and respond to the public?s views on policing; and to hold the Chief Constable to account.

How it works
The PCC will be accompanied in Abergele by staff from his team who will help to facilitate the meetings and take notes if needed.

Surgeries are by appointment only to ensure that the issues being raised relate to policing, crime or community safety, and to ensure the PCC is fully briefed on the issue prior to the meeting.

While the Commissioner is unable to intervene in operational matters, he welcomes residents? feedback on how North Wales is policed.

The PCC will not be able to consider complaints about police officers, members of police staff, police community support officers or special constables as this has to go through the existing and established channels. Further advice on the complaints system is on the OPCC website here.

How to book a place
If you would like to book a 20-minute slot with Andy Dunbobbin, please contact the PCC?s office with your name, contact information and what you would like to discuss during your meeting, by:

Email: opcc@northwales.police.uk

Phone: 01492 805486

Post: Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner North Wales, Police Headquarters. Glan y Don, Colwyn Bay, LL29 8AW

Please note, surgery slots are limited and work on a first come, first served basis and a slot cannot be guaranteed for everyone. If a session is full, residents will be given the details of alternative sessions.

Plan to revamp 'gateway' site next to a Tesco roundabout
Cartrefi Conwy has released artist?s impressions to provide a sneak peek of the landscaped area in Abergele

A housing association has unveiled plans to brighten up the ?gateway? to Abergele. Cartrefi Conwy has released artist?s impressions to provide a sneak peek of the landscaped area which will include seating, pagodas, flower beds and a wooden sculpture.

The organisation will be submitting a planning application to spruce up the plot next to the bus stop and the Tesco roundabout on Market Street. If it's given the go-ahead, the new communal area will be a temporary measure while Cartrefi develop the overall plan for the 2.3 acre plot that includes the closed Bee Hotel and the old Slaters Citroen and Nissan dealership.

North Wales nursing home destroyed by fire undergoes amazing transformation
The former Gainsborough House in Abergele was gutted in an arson attack but has risen like a phoenix from the flames

A former Abergele nursing home which was destroyed by fire, has undergone an amazing transformation. The Victorian mansion in St George?s Road, was almost completely destroyed in an early-morning blaze during 2008.

However in the years since it has been transformed with apartments inside the converted property, which are up for sale, for a slice of class living.

Gainsborough House also known as Aaron House, is a gated community sitting within a stunning landscape just south of Abergele as it rolls down to the coast just a few miles away with a choice of long sandy beaches and a coastal path to easily tempt you to regularly visit

THE lease for the new Banking Hub in Abergele has been signed.

Residents living in the town have lost seven banks in the town over the years.

Whilst there are a few ATMs nearby and a Post Office, there are currently no banks in the town and residents have to travel to Colwyn Bay or Rhyl to visit their branch.

Last year, it was confirmed that the town will benefit from a new banking hub as part of a wider commitment to protect access to cash.
