NHS dental charges in Wales being hiked by huge amount in days
Ministers have blamed budgetary pressures for the big rises

The cost of NHS dental treatment in Wales are set to rocket next month. Charges for some treatments will double as the Welsh Government looks to address ?extreme pressure? on its health budget.

From April 1, 2024, the three standard dentistry charges will increase to between ?20 and ?260, depending on the treatment required. The cost of urgent and out-of-hours dentistry will more than double to ?30.

Health and Social Care Secretary Eluned Morgan stressed that, for most treatments, dentistry charges in Wales will remain below those in England. She pledged that all revenue generated from the increased charges will be re-invested back into NHS dentistry services.

A 'REAL-world' immersive game inspired by Llandudno's connection with the Alice and Wonderland story has been launched.
Finding Alice has been made by creative company EA Productions who are based in Llandudno Junction.

Finding Alice is set for a soft launch during the Easter Holidays. Between March 26 and 30, tickets will be half price whilst creators gather feedback from residents as they continue to shape the game.

In the game, Alice has been cordially invited by the Mad Hatter to celebrate her Unbirthday Party. However, in a twist of fate, she never arrives. The Mad Hatter, in a flurry of concern, sends out a call for help to those that are willing to embark on a mission to find Alice and save Wonderland.

What tourists think of 20mph Wales and whether they will stay away this year
The prospect of more leisurely speeds and fewer signs has detractors and supporters

Tourism groups in England could be forgiven for rubbing their hands over the new 20mph speed limits in Wales. Newspaper letters pages have heard howls of anguish from irate holidaymakers and, on online forums, some English tourists have vowed "never to set foot in Wales again".

The country?s visitor economy is braced for a backlash and places like the West Country are hoping to pick up the pieces. But how much of it is talk? Will the prospect of becoming speedo-watching ?Sunday drivers? affect visitor numbers from across the border ? or will this become part of the appeal?

From the Liverpool Echo..................

Fairytale village not far from Liverpool that's like escaping to the Alps
The stunning Welsh village has been named among the top UK staycations all year around

A beautiful Welsh village has been described as one of the best places to visit in the UK - and it's not far from Liverpool.

It has been listed among the best staycations in the country, due to its "fairytale" scenery, walking trails, quaint pubs and even a secluded waterfall. Betws-y-Coed, in Conwy, has previously been described as Wales' answer to the Alps in winter, thanks to the hikes, fast-flowing rivers and icy waterfalls.

Train drivers at Avanti West Coast will see their fee for an overtime shift increase to ?600 following a deal between the company and union Aslef.

Avanti said it hoped offering more attractive terms to its drivers to work extra shifts would make its services "more reliable and resilient".-

The company has faced criticism over cancellations, delays and poor service.

An Aslef source confirmed that Avanti's offer was accepted by union bosses.

The new rest day working agreement is in addition to a driver's salary. Previously the deal involved a flat ?125 payment, with an hourly rate paid on top, which could have totalled between ?421 and ?495 depending on whether a driver worked and eight or 10-hour shift.

A fire which badly damaged two houses started in a tumble dryer - the fourth such blaze in North Wales in a month, fire chiefs have revealed. Emergency crews rushed to the properties in Broughton yesterday (Saturday) morning in a huge 999 response.

No-one was hurt but the upper parts of both homes - which are linked - on Broughton Hall Road were fire damaged.

Fire Service Advice....
Keep your dryer well ventilated, make sure the vent pipe is kink free and not blocked or crushed in any way. Always clean out the filter after using your tumble dryer. Always allow each drying programme, including the 'cool down cycle', to complete fully before emptying the machine.

Walks in North Wales / Re: Walking........'Tread lightly' to protect Eryri

'Tread lightly' to protect Eryri's greatest attraction visitors urged
A multi-agency day involving police, councils and others will look at how best to safeguard the national park

Visitors to Eryri are to be urged to "tread lightly" to safeguard the national park. Walkers, climbers and daytrippers will be advised to use public transport and avoid littering.

The measures will be aired in a multi-agency day involving North Wales Police, Cyngor Gwynedd and others to work out how best to safeguard a popular but vulnerable region which has seen a surge in illegal parking and anti-social behaviour. Some tourists have also been disrespectful to archaeology.
