THE QUEEN?S HOTEL in Llandudno could be set to reopen, four years after closing its doors.    pioneer

The hotel was one of three establishments, along with the Belmont and the Llandudno Bay Hotel, that had gone into administration in 2020.

The hotel closed permanently in May that year, having been welcoming guests for more than a century.

But hope for the future of the 83-bedroom hotel was restored when the building was snapped up by hotel operating chain Everbright Hotels in 2022.

Having earmarked an opening date in early 2025, the web page for the Queen?s Hotel says the venue is ?opening soon?.

A Llandudno seafront hotel has had its price cut in a bid to secure a sale. The Trevone Hotel forms part of the iconic terrace of hotels overlooking Llandudno Bay on the front.

It went up for sale back in April 2022 with a guide price of ?995,000 but that figure was later reduced to ?895,000. It has now had another reduction in its price and is on the market with Christie and Co for ?750,000.

The agent described the 24 bed hotel as "ideal for a lifestyle buyer" with scope to increase the bar and food operation at the site.

A STUNNING mansion near Llandudno Junction could again become a hotel, after revised plans were submitted.

The owners of Grade II listed Marle Hall, Marle Hall Holdings, had submitted a proposal for the site to be transformed into a 25-bedroom ?destination? hotel last year.

They had intended to use it as a venue for a variety of functions, such as weddings, with the site to also provide spa services.

Article about tourist tax says the Welsh and Scottish governments are already tabling legislation to allow local authorities to introduce them.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13420411/Bournemouth-UK-resort-tax-tourists-staying-hotel-owners-approve-67-fee-family-four-spending-week.html

Bournemouth has become the first seaside resort in the UK to introduce a 'tourist tax' as business owners voted to approve measures which will see a family of four charged an extra ?34 for a week's stay.

We live in an era of 'how much can we squeeze out of the tourist'

Conwy Council need to be careful about introducing this, already second home owners and smaller holiday let's are disappearing from the town sold off. The locals still have problems buying due to the low wage economy.

The slow decline will only be accelerated by another tourist tax.

A SEAFRONT hotel in Llandudno has won a TripAdvisor Travellers? Choice award for 2024.

The Belmont, at 21 North Parade, was recognised for its popularity with customers, with the award given annually to businesses that consistently receive ?Excellent? and ?Very Good? ratings from their customers.

The hotel reopened in October 2021 after closing in March 2020 after falling into administration following the collapse of owner Northern Powerhouse Developments.

Saved by the Everbright Hotel Group, which also owns the Queen?s Hotel, the Belmont is again one of Llandudno?s go-to stops for tourists.

A HIGHLY-rated guest house in Llandudno could be converted into an aparthotel, after plans were submitted to Conwy County Borough Council.

Sunnybank Guest House, at 23 Deganwy Avenue, would become a commercial short-term letting complex as part of owner Fiona Rhys-Jones? plans.

The new complex would see one full-time and one part-time member of staff employed.

A planning supporting statement by Hafod Planning Consultants states: ?The current guest house use satisfies a good number of these requirements [guest house requirements], and it is not proposed that this should largely change.

?Overall, the development is a simple, and modest change to the former guest house provision.

?It remains as serviced accommodation within the HAZ [Heritage Action Zone] and in a highly sustainable location.

?It is suited to the character and context of its setting.
?The design is simple and unobtrusive and ?sits? well on the site.
?There would also be no harmful impact upon the amenities of neighbouring residents.
?Neither would it be harmful to any other interest or consideration of material importance.?

The conversion would result in the building retaining ?some of the characteristics of an aparthotel or self-catering accommodation?.

The plans will now be discussed by the council?s planning team.                             ref pioneer

The Elm Tree, on North Parade, was ranked the number one small hotel in Llandudno and among the top 10 per cent of hotels worldwide.

The hotel has a history of excellence, and last year was named seventh in the ‘Best Small Hotel’ category as part of the Awards’ ‘Best of the Best’ listing and sixth in the ‘Best Romantic Hotel’ category.
