I believe that there are unrelated branches of the family ' Hobson ' living in Llandudno, care should be taken not to confuse them in your research.

Chris, there are a number of Hobsons buried in St. Tudno's churchyard, including some with Great Orme addresses.  If you think that some of these might be members of your family I can look up the details for you.  You would need to contact CCBC for details of anyone buried in the adjoining cemetery.

Thank you Quiggs, I do beleive my family to be genuine, but will always remember that.

Thank you Blodyn, that would be good.  I know my great grand parents are burried there, so it would be nice to know of more.

Thank you both, Chris

The Conwy Archives in Lloyd Street Llandudno has a list of the graves at St Tudno's and they are listed in alphabetical order which makes them easy to trace. Included in the book is a plan of the graveyard so that every one knows where exactly the grave is located.
Quiggs' advice on the Hobson family is good because there are a number of them with the same Christian name.

Thanks Hugo.

I have the dates for my great grand father, Hugh.  He was born in 1897 and died in 1948...that fits in with dwsi's findings on the 1901 census.

I meant to say dwsi, the rebuild of the house was by Hugh and his son Joseph, Joseph must have been around 15,  judging by his year of birth.

Hi Zoe, thanks for your message.

I took the same line as you, but when I researched alittle more, I thought I must be wrong as names didnt seem to fit.

Shortly after begining tis topic, I spent a few afternoons at Conwy Archives and looked through the school records to confirm I had the right family, I was also told to trust the record as it was only filled in by the school head.  The record gave the same address as the census.

I will find the folder to let you know.

I don't know if you have come across a site called North Wales BMD.  It is run by the Registration service and has the indexes for all the local births, marriages and deaths up to around 1950.  It is free and helps you to locate people if you want a copy of any certificates. I have found it very useful in the past.
