Often we see rave reviews on this thread, for several eateries in Llandudno.
However, I think it is important that we have a balance, and if we are less than enamoured with any experience then we should share that with fellow forum mebers too.
Such is the case with my visit to The Mostyn Cafe, (Mostyn St, Llandudno) it is upstairs beside the Town House public house.
Dave R and I had been in there a few months ago and had a very decent snack, and that was reported favourably on here. Not so today.
I must point out before I continue that Mrs Fester thoroughly enjoyed her food, and gave it 9 out of 10.
I was attracted in by a sign that offered Jacket Spuds, with a variety of fillings for £2.75.
But, only 2 feet from it was another chalk board which confusingly offered the same meal, but at £3.90???
Undaunted, I went in to query it, and order it... but was dismayed to find that they actually didn't have any jacket spuds.
So, I plumped for the Cheese/Ham toastie that I had with Dave and enjoyed in the past.
I asked for it to have onions too, and the waiter jotted it down.
This time however, it looked decidedly less full of cheese, the slice of processed ham was a lukewarm and unappetising specimen. And...no onion!!!
So, when I mentioned it to the waiter,at first he didn't believe me.... and then trotted off to the kitchen and returned with a mushed up bowl of boiled onions. Not what was required at al.
He eventually returned with some raw onion, (which I stuffed inside the toastie) but it then fell apart as it was so dry from its lack of cheese.
Sadly, I will be avoiding The Mostyn Cafe in future.
I did hear other diners saying that their meals were very nice however, to be entirely fair.
