I've always liked these clips. Some good shots of the lifeboat coming in, and also the dodgem boats on the pier.

Some additional scenes on this clip of the pier. At the start it looks like Penmaenmawr beach, rather than Llandudno.

One thing that strikes me about those videos is how much slimmer people were in general back then. Virtually none of the obese that we see with increasing frequency these days.

No fast food outlets then Ian, apart from one or two fish and chip shops.!

I suppose so...

Its about availability and laziness. ...If you build it, they will come ... thats the principle I'm sure McDonalds work on.
Mmmmmmmmm McDonalds, :-* :P +}}{

I love those old Pathe clips.
When I saw the panorama of Llandudno and the gas tank in the distance, with the nearby incinerator chimney belching out smoke, it bought a tear to my eye. :'(

Elucidate, Sir...

Well, in an apparent display of insanity, he parades around town bizarrely dressed, with a stuffed monkey, with music blaring out. An obvious nutter.... or is he?
You see, he seems to make the seemingly rational decision to change into normal smart-casual clothing, and walk up the pier each evening. I have heard him chatting to people on very mundane and sensible topics.
I have also heard that he has his own Facebook page.
Can a person pick and choose when to appear mad? Is he conducting some kind of social experiment? Is he a self-publicist?
-
Some good questions. I've seen him in normal clothes on the pier, too.
-
If he doesn't turn down that distorted, blaring racket, I am going to throw his monkey, his radio and then him into the sea.
I don't mind his eccentricities, but I do object to the excruciating volume.
When does a harmless nutter become a public order offender?

Bugsy might well be able to answer that one....

He's actually quite famous in the Kings Heath area of Birmingham.
In this clip he ventured out into Stratford:

Now he's ventured out into Llandudno. He seems to have a vast array of costumes. Perhaps he thinks everyday is New years Eve?
I thought it was BrumBob at first.
