Fester and I will hopefully be representing the Forum at the Quiz there tomorrow night.
Fester says a body has been recovered from the sea just off the Great Orme.
Apparently a body has been recovered today.

A possible off Conwy also.
Well just to quell some local speculation, it certainly ain't Yorkie! He is alive and well and will shortly be seen roaming all over the Three Towns Forum as usual! ;)
Apparently a body has been recovered today.
Police were called this morning after the force helicopter spotted a body on the cliff face at the Great Orme, Llandudno.
The man was recovered by the coastguard at around 10.30am.
District Inspector Ian Verburg said that they had no formal identification of the body at this time.
He said that the coroner had been informed and they were treating the death as unexplained.
There are no further details available.
It disturbed my watching of BENIDORM !Wasn't it a lot funnier this week D)

The left hand part of the building is to be retained and refurbished, the right hand side is to be demolished and rebuilt in a modern design.

One hour less possibly.
As far as I am concerned the whole lot better watch out, I feel an urge to clean the cobwebs off of my Blog and get down to publishing a few choice bits and pieces again! >>> >>>
Ha ha Alis just had a call from the Weekly News, they want to print the story on the Grenade his lad found. You read it here first...................

Lock them up in a secure prison without TV, gyms and all the comforts of home, miles from anywhere. We may then see some reduction in offending.
Edited quote:
Well, we imprison more of our population than any other country in Europe ,but it doesn't seem to deter re-offenders. Neither has it ever worked, even when punishments were far more draconian.

Sadly, since the demise of corporal punishment, society had slid very badly into reverse.
Crime, and petty crime such as befell the RNLI, is rife because the perpetrators know they face little of no consequences.
I for one, behaved very nicely in the classes of those teachers who had administered a clip round my ear previously.
To say that it does not deter crime if the consequences are severe seems frankly ludicrous to me.

Yesterday I walked on to the theatre to buy a couple of tickets. As I usually do, I proffered my debit card to pay for them. That will be £2.50 handling charge said the cashier. Pardon, said I, this is a debit card, not a credit card. Still £2.50 she said. Luckily I had cash in my purse so paid with that. No extra charge.MY OH bought some tickets the same way, over the counter, in April and wasn't charged the fee.
Can someone tell me what Venue Cymru are playing at? I was there, she was there, so who was handling what ? I could have understood the procedure if the sum had been less than £10, but it was well over double that. M&S don't do that, as don't other stores. CCBC strikes again, no wonder places aren't busy.
:rage:If I had been a less polite mortal I would have told her where to stick her tickets. :rage:

Regarding the sad fatal events and quote from a thread"what a sad start to the. New Yea r." not new. To Llandudno.. This y ear is the twentieth anniversary of Llandudnos worst nightmare. The New Year when a crazy man watched through the windows of his old marital home by the tram station at a happy party. Went in. Grabbed a knife, killed his Wife, seriously injured at least one other, then took off in his car, hid up a lane near tal y can and then drove deliberately head on into an oncoming car killing himself and three innocent lads just out for a drive. The Sun newspaper with its usual disregard for any dece nt feelings had a f font page headline about an inch high "Bloody New Year" mikeTaxi driver, wasn't he? That guy in County Durham who killed the women yesterday was also one. And that guy in Cumbria who killed all those people earlier this year.

Firefighters have been dealing with a blaze on a wooden fishing boat in Conwy.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said three appliances were dealing with the incident on the 40ft (12m) vessel at about 17:30 GMT.
The boat involved is believed to be an abandoned trawler. The cause of the blaze has not been confirmed.
Holyhead coastguards said the Llandudno RNLI lifeboat was also called to the incident.
The fire service said crews were dampening down after the initial blaze.

Wasn't Mr Andrew Roberts concerned with the fact that he and other local businesss owners were not consulted at all by CCBC.
If that is correct then perhaps the gentleman has a valid point.
I believe there was a planning site meeting that local businesses had the opportunity to attend, and these matters were discussed then. The site meeting was for councillors, I was told that businesses were not aware of it. It's not just Mr Roberts who is concerned - I'm aware of eight small businesses in the area who are equally worried. I don't believe they're looking for compensation Wrex, but with trading conditions as they have been over the past year or so they want customers to be able to access their businesses without too
Not so, Mr Andrew Roberts was at that site meeting, along with least 3 other traders from Gloddaeth Street.I believe there was a planning site meeting that local businesses had the opportunity to attend, and these matters were discussed then. The site meeting was for councillors, I was told that businesses were not aware of it.
All the more reason then, DaveR, for a meeting to have previously been held between all the local business owners affected, CCBC, the developer and contractors to agree a satisfactory solution for everyone involved.Sorry, just missed your new post, Bri. The traders did attend the site meeting and all these matters were discussed then.
As the majority of the local business owners have been there for many years their contribution could have proved invaluable.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
The site meeting was for councillors, I was told that businesses were not aware of it.
In that case, the NWWN must have been mis-informed.

So you'd rather we open everything and end up with stranded or flooded cars & trains sitting in farmer's fields because the line may be washed away???
Exactly the point I was trying to make. The idea that the only main route through North Wales can be closed after just a couple of hours rain is not acceptable - particularly when this is the second or third time this year alone that it has happened. Its not rocket science...if the existing drains can't cope, install more and bigger drains! There are hundreds of people stranded on both sides of the A55 flood - it's like a third world country!!A bit of heavy rain for a few hours, and the A55, A5 and all train services shut down - pathetic!

No SDQ, but it would be preferable that the roads and drains are able to cope with the rain in the firstplace. Clearly there is a significant issue when the main trunk road across North Wales is closed for the 2nd time in 5 months due to flooding in virtually the same place i.e the stretch between Aber and Bangor; not to mention the number of accidents that close that same stretch of dual carriageway per annum.

The A55 is Trunk Road Agency responsibility, not local Councils. That couple of hours of rain brought down a hell of a lot of water in a short time and the area in question has a lot of land for it to build up & gush off. Apart from the fact the problem couldn't be fixed overnight, who is going to pay for all this work. The ConDem Government have slashed finance to the local authorities to such a degree they've barely got enough to operate normally never mind spending hundreds of thousands of pounds putting storm drains in at Aber. There is obviously a lot of foliage mixed in with this water which will be blocking areas & causing the water to divert to places where there aren't adequate drains to cope so sadly it's time for a bit of that stiff upper lip they go on about so often and just wait for the water levels to drop.
Many of the A55's problems are of fairly recent origin, though, Yorkie.
You misunderstand me, Yorkie. I'm talking about things like the ridiculous roundabouts at Penmaenmawr and Llanfairfechan that were only built relatively recently. Many of the A55's problems are of fairly recent origin, though, Yorkie.
Naturally so Dave! We all suffer as we get older and so does any manufactured or constructed item! The A55 is no different.
As a matter of interest the speed limit through Colwyn Bay is due to the short length of the slip roads and restricted visibility. Due to the good visibility at the Aber slip road the speed limit has been left at the National limit.

My daughter, who works in mental health, had taken one of her clients from Llandudno to Bangor on the bus in the morning. After the rain they were stranded in Bangor and had to wait like everyone else. Eventually at about 9pm they managed to get a taxi. From Bangor to Llandudno she was charged £110 !!! Driver said it was because of the bad weather. It's a long time since I traveled by taxi but this sounded excessive to me. I think some people always find a silver lining!
That very issue affects the Marine Drive around the Orme; there's still no provision for excess water to be channelled through the wall so in the event of another massive storm like the 1993 event Llandudno could be flooded again.
That's a bit of tough luck DaveR! Stranded with a model ;DHeck of a thing... ;D
It is part of a major European route, E22, is it not?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_route_E22 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_route_E22)
Reverting to Mull's comments about trains and electrification, there's also the point that we used enjoy direct links with Liverpool and Manchester via rail. Now, it's impossible for anyone to reach us from either of those major conurbations without at least one change at Chester. I'd have thought it made sense in tourist terms to have direct services from both places, especially now that rail travel has entered a renaissance and is proving so popular.
Just asking but wasn't the railway shut as well on Thursday during the floods? I take it that it would have been electrified or not?
I bet the bits in Germany are.....It is part of a major European route, E22, is it not?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_route_E22 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_route_E22)
Indeed it is but isn't the European Road Network just an agreed numbering system designating major routes? The E22 is over 5000 miles long and I cannot see it all being of Motorway Standard.
Flooding would lead to railway services being suspended regardless of which system is used to power the trains as the infrastructure is what would be affected. If static flood water is above rail head level or is running across the tracks at any level then the regulations forbid trains to move as it is impossible to ascertain the condition of the track & ballast may have been washed away.
On Thursday there was the added problem that a piece of infrastructure needed to be inspected but because the road was also flooded it could not be reached in the usual way so it took time to decide the best plan of action & instigate it.

Maybe then, the same question could be asked about the Railways as has been asked about the A55. Why were the railways not built with consideration for adverse conditions? ZXZ
With respect there is nothing wrong with the A55 or the railway, it is the surrounding area that caused the problem.

Sorry SDQ, was not criticising your comment, merely using it as a last reference point? In fact I tend to agree with what you say.

Of course. If something isn't designed to cope with the area around it, then it obviously a bad design, surely!

I suppose that you could equate that to building houses on a flood plain then. They were aware of the problems but didn't have adequate drainage to cope with downpours, but isn't that bad planning?
Almost!Surely you're not serious! The geography of an area doesn't change, a flood plain is a flood plain. The Meadows estate in Llandudno Junction is a great example - flooded how many times?
Only problem is that you do't know it's a flood plain until it floods!
Almost!
Only problem is that you do't know it's a flood plain until it floods!
Maybe some thought could be given to the surrounding land management. Deforestation plays several roles in the flooding equation because trees prevent sediment run-off and forests hold and use more water than grasslands. Thus a bit of afforestation wouldn't go amiss especially with native broadleaved species.
Almost!
Only problem is that you do't know it's a flood plain until it floods!
Now don't be silly Yorkie you should know better than most. Just Google it and all areas will be revealed. Local knowledge helps too but that area is prone to flooding and there are flood warning signs telling you about it
My Dad was a sub contractor bricklayer and he was asked to build a house on some land locally so he told the owner that the ground was liable to flooding but the owner replied that if he wasn't prepared to do it then he would employ someone who would.
So Dad built the house and guess what happened the following year? Yes it did flood just like Dad predicted.
"police are stopping drivers going down Gloddaeth Lane nr Llandudno from Wormhout Way roundabout towards Penrhyn Bay. Believed to be due to flooding."
Just coming out of town now and a vanload of Police and the Coastguard Van were racing towards the prom with "Blues and Twos" on, closely followed by the 22 helicopter from Valley going overhead low eastbound. However as I write this the helicopter has just returned going back towards Valley.

Well, its paradise for rag/bone men, scrap metal men, and other unscrupulous types who might attempt to re-sell these items to unwitting bargain hunters.
They will be round in the middle of the night, collecting the bloody lot before any of these bags reach the recycling centre. &shake&
I'm of the opinion that this is a poor idea, and will cause safety and security issues.
Opportunistic thieves may also decide to investigate the fact that a NEW item is likely to be in the property, replacing the old one which is in the pink bag! &shake&

MISSING: Police are becoming increasingly concerned for the welfare of a 58-year-old man not seen since Sunday. Robert Davies left Vaughan Lodge Residential Home on Vaughan Street in Llandudno at 4.30pm on Sunday and has not returned since.
He is described as a ‘bit of a loner’ and a heavy smoker and needs regular medication.
When he left the home he was wearing a check shirt (colour unknown), black trousers and a green coat, which comes to above his knees.
He is originally from Porthmadog, and has been known to visit the town on occasions. Anyone with information is asked to call Llandudno Police Station on 101.

Our local council would bury there heads in the sand ohh we dont have much on our beach hmm I wonder if any is going spare anywhere hmm, the pier. There was no one from the noble organisation the owners of the Brighton pier since 1984 they put Brighton pier up for sale last year did not meet reserve price. they invested 35 million. just been looking at bits from Portsmouth news small pressure group wanting to save the pier dont think it will happen they need cash and will not get it from the council or local goverment. The chap that runs the amusement centre locked himself in overnight for fear of the owners breaking in there is a dispute over rent, well I have come to the conclusion I will never be a novelist. romanjohn. Thanks for the info, John. $good$

I've just noticed this in the "North Wales Live" column of the Daily Post website -
"TRAFFIC DELAYS: There are delays of around 9 minutes for motorists going along the A547 at Highlands Road to the A55 at Old Colwyn because of traffic."
The thing is this was reported at 7.19am on a Tuesday morning. Is there really so much in Old Colwyn at that time of the morning or are they just making this up to fill a bit of space?
Could be because of the roadworks between the old 70 Degrees & Queens hotels causing tailbacks.

We lost three roof tiles.
We have a chap coming tomorrow to sort the roof edging out tomorrow, the piece fell off earlier, I've taken the Xmas lights down now so he has easy access to it, don't think I'll bother putting them up again till next Xmas!I think that plastic roof edging is one of the biggest scams going. The roof tiles should be secured correctly anyway (using clips if necessary), the edging just isn't needed and is the first thing to come away in a gale.
They are responsible for putting it all right. However, the CCBC man who quickly arrived on scene said that they have no builders available until 6th January!!

I will post later about those, if anyone is interested.

Altering traffic light sequences is not really the solution as this will only cause similar problems elsewhere on the network.
The problem with your suggestion is that it would render it dangerous for pedestrians walking along Conway Road in and out of Llandudno who depend on those traffic lights turning RED so they can cross the junction safely.
That one's simple. It stays where it is, but only the bus can use it, instead of other vehicles at present. To be honest, the only real issue I can see is the position of the emergency services garage exit.

Llandudno town was once again very lucky yesterday, as the direction of the wind pushed the waves back from North Shore. If the wind had been straight on, then we would have seen considerable flooding along the prom and in parts of the town centre. Someone left the flood gates in front of the Meirion Hotel open, as well.....
Rumours are riff regarding The Esplanade Hotel going into receivership this week. And also about its subsequent sale. It's been on the market since last April, obviously no takers willing to spend the £1.2m!
A Sad loss if its true, but unfortunately a reflection of tough times in the town, and especially the leisure industry.

Just spoken to a neighbour-- The Waverley came and went without taking anyone onboard ! Anyone know why?Sea too rough/ windy to dock
This was the picture I took, and also tweeted, of the SS Waverley attempting to come alongside at Llandudno Pier.
The Captain was trying to let the Pier manager (and sickening array of Civic dignitaries) know by telephone that he would not be able to dock. But, the Pier manager's phone had no signal at all.... like many watching, because the network was jammed and busy. That's why no one had the true information at the time.
The Captain later explained that the docking would be just about possible, but the gangplank for disembarking and embarking passengers would have been very unsafe, tossing up and down in the swell.
Having been a part of the crew in the early 70s getting the I o m boats in /out I went down to have a look how they would get the Waverley alongside looking at the wind direction and the tide as soon as she approached you knew it wasn't,t going to happen , I waited around but could hear no explaination to the many people waiting for her to berth lots even thought she would reappear from the Orme .
Strange to see the Waverley off the Colwyn Bay coast today, it must cost a lot to keep it running but they have just turned away lots of custom? I can't see the conditions ever being right for it to dock on the pier somehow!
There was simply no excuse for the failure to moor up. There was no sea worth mentioning and even less wind in the lee of the Orme.
As for the excuse that the weather on the return may be worse - it wasn't - this skipper has form for poor met office interpretation.
Never mind - the Balmoral will do the honours next year. She has a fifty year history with Llandudno and won't let us down.

North Wales parents to be fined for children's truancy
A teaching union says the policy could 'cause more harm than good' as parents face fines of up to £120 if their son or daughter is away from school in term time
“What parents and children alike need is support rather than punishment.
“Parents need to be part of the solution and not be further alienated from the education of their children.
“Financially punishing parents will, in all likelihood, hit the most vulnerable people and those families closest to the poverty line.
http://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/north-wales-parents-fined-childrens-7837659 (http://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/north-wales-parents-fined-childrens-7837659)
I think it is so unfair on young families. I was looking at booking a holiday cottage on Anglesey recently and it wasn't hard to spot the half term weeks. This is just one example but they were all similarly priced.
mad isn;t it Yorkie, private schools have different or longer holidays so those who can afford it don;t have to pay and those who can;t really afford it do,mad ,mad, world.
I believe fining for taking holidays during term time has been gong on for some years.
The down side of being under educated, apart from poor job prospects, is I think, these are the youngsters who end up in trouble, drugs, crime, and a criminal record, then they have children, and another cycle starts all over again.
I think that's what I was trying to say,(another cycle starts) it's to late for past generations, we have already seen the results of letting them slip through the net, it needs to be sorted now, and I think "fining" is the easy way out, pass the buck sort of thing.QuoteThe down side of being under educated, apart from poor job prospects, is I think, these are the youngsters who end up in trouble, drugs, crime, and a criminal record, then they have children, and another cycle starts all over again.
I agree to a point, Steve, but these children tend to be in a mess before they ever reach a school. Tackling bad parenting is the only answer, and it has to start very early.

DPblog..LLANDUDNO: More information on the overnight incident 300 yards from Llandudno's north shore, at Craig-y-Don. The town's RNLI crew says he was found in a distressed condition and was 'totally unwilling' to be taken into the lifeboat, prompting half an hour being spent trying to persuade him to join them on board.
As the man begun to tire, and without him noticing. the crew was able to slowly work the lifeboat sufficiently close inshore for the police on the beach to apprehend the man.
Both lifeboats and their crews were then stood down after spending well over an hour on scene.

"Holidaying recently in north Wales, however, I wandered into a kiosk of soaps and tinctures on Llandudno pier. There was a remedy for sleep that Peter, the knowledgeable proprietor, told me was his biggest seller. It contains lavender (naturally), ylang ylang (not a sleepy Chinese pianist) and odorata (not an impregnated insole). I paid three quid and left smiling drily. That night, still sneering. I applied it to my temples, wrists and the soles of my feet. Reader, I slept like a warthog! Result! The next day in pelting rain I ran back to the kiosk and bought six more phials for myself and my baggy-eyed friends. "

This appears to have slipped past virtually unnoticed, and whilst not wanting to sound like a NIMBY, I have had experience of this situation in a different part of the country and the result for the nearby locality was (and still is, twenty years later) absolutely appalling, as it was in many other similar situations. Nearby property prices dropped like a stone and litter, vandalism and local crime soared. Nearby property prices dropped like a stone and litter, vandalism and local crime soared. I am aware that the Council have a legal obligation to provide 'amenities' for travellers, but at what expense of local Council Tax payers, Income Tax payers and businesses?

amazing that we all pay for a certain family live in palaces because it's 'tradition' but people don't want to allow travellers to stay on a field.

Only this time we have emergency vehicles blocking a single track road with poor access 2 or three times a week.

Good write up on Llandudno in the Sunday times.
B2R strikes a chord. Trying to buy a large letter stamp at Llandudno GPO is like entering a "Twenty Questions"round. What's in it; Is it inflammable ? etc Do you want it delivered next day (No, that's why I asked for 2nd class!) and so on until we get to the insurance questions and the "would you be interested in our broadband offer" bit. No wonder there are usually queues there. It used to be so simple to buy a stamp.

From Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue OrganisationThe 17 year-old girl, believed to be local, found herself in trouble at around 8.50pm at a former quarry site off Maenan Road, Llandudno.
17 year old female fell into a disused quarry, banged her head and was witnessed having a fit. Due to the difficult access for the WAST crew and the serious nature of her condition, both the Team and the Coastguard helicopter were tasked. A joint effort between the WAST crew, team members and the Coastguard helicopter enabled her to be winched out of the quarry and flown to hospital
The body of missing fisherman Brian Hughes has been found.A fisherman whose body was washed ashore a week after he was reported missing was wearing a life-jacket, it was revealed at the opening of an inquest.

A massive search and rescue operation was launched but it was called off after 24 hours.
I'm hearing that there has been a robbery at William Hill in Gloddaeth Street. Lots of Police on the scene.
The offender had his face covered and left the store with a quantity of cash - believed to be just over £200, according to a source.
Ok it's just that it said the passenger had died in the original report. Terrible tragedy anyway, seems to happen more and more lately around here.We were in Betws Y Coed on Sunday lunchtime and saw that the A470 was closed when we were leaving, so took the B5106 back down to Conwy.

I think that Betws has been spoilt by the vast numbers of motorbikes that turn up there at the weekend now, it's a constant stream of revving bikes going through the town and around the Station area, there must have been a hundred or more there last Sunday. It's not what people come to the National Park for really, is it?
I agree entirely Mike. To make even more of a nonsense of the radar van in the Robertson's dip, it was there on a Saturday when presumably there is no one around to exit their premises.
I was under the impression that radar vans should be placed in spots with a history of accidents too. Not aware of any here.
Personally I don't think it makes sense to only put cameras in places where accidents have already happened because by then it might be too late. Wouldn't they better used to prevent accidents from happening in the first place?

That said, I think speed traps like the one that is set up in the dip as after you go past Robertsons in Llanrhos is just a money maker and has little to do with road safety.
Just a reminder in the unlikely event that anyone's forgotten: Clocks go back one hour at 0200 tomorrow.
There is a major incident on the prom between Rhos and Penrhyn Bay. 3 police cars, 4 ambulances and the air ambulance on scene. Possibly a serious car crash? We were passing through Rhos about 2.30 - 3 this afternoon on the bus and police and ambulances were heading onto the prom near St. Trillo's Church. According to the Daily Post website recently a car left a side road onto the prom and went straight across the road and over the prom through the railings and onto the rocks below. The Air Ambulance was also in attendance.
I noticed quite a large sailing ship anchored in Conwy bay off the gunsites when I was out earlier this mornig. I looked it up on Ship AIS when I got home and it's the "Stavros.S.Niarchos", a 195 ft brig owned by the Tall Ships Youth Trust and launched in 2000 but currently for sale. It should look quite impressive when it gets under way under sail. This beautiful ship is now moored alongside Beaumaris Pier. (see pic below. if it comes out!)
After Hollin's success in posting that pic I'll have one last attempt before finally admitting defeat!
Apparently the three people in the car, including the 47 year old woman driver are still in hospital. Looking at the wreckage of the car they were lucky to escape with their lives after that accident

I too, enjoy a visit to Betty's when "oop north" and it is without equal now that Badgers Cafe in the Victoria Centre is no more.
Badger's was a perfect example of a high quality tearooms and it won all sorts of awards, unfortunately it failed due to high rents and council tax.
Sorry Wrex, if I did have a spare million, I wouldn't spend it on making cakes for the blue-rinse brigade. Coincidentally, I'm in Harrogate tomorrow, but won't be going to Bettys, mainly because I know there will be a queue out of the door. There are five or so Bettys Tea Rooms, and I have to agree that one in Llandudno would probably be as popular a venue as Harrogate.Bettys is a fantastic business, I visited earlier this year. If I were opening such a business in Llandudno, I would want a location like the Carlton or Coffee Culture to maximise revenue.

Returning to the tree cutting at Black Cat Traffic Wales argued that choosing the busiest shopping week of the year to trim the trees and cause major disruption was necessary because the trees posed a hazard to passing members of the public. It's unlikely that the trees abruptly started to become dangerous, so why did Traffic Wales launch yet another, unbelievably thoughtless and stupid course of action? This isn't the first time they've caused chaos on that stretch of road. Two years ago they decided that the grass on the roundabout needed to be cut, and they clearly thought the best time to start that was at the beginning of the rush hour.
You have to wonder how they arrive at their decisions regarding timing and, perhaps more importantly, who is responsible. Is there anything that Traffic Wales can get right? Discovering the salary of their newly appointed commissioner isn't easy, either.

"Contacting the authorities". Many people are very reluctant to do anything like that because of what can ensue, or possibly because other people who weren't there wondering if they didn't have anything better to do with their time. It's a strange world in which we live.

If you watch the video in the article at about 1. 28 he says he rang the Police, this is not mentioned in the written article for some reason. Just to say, I have never met him, never been in the Seahorse, too fancy for me lol !

Yes, yes I do.
It is a disgrace these developers have been able to continue with this practice on the leaseholds for so long, especially for the young first time buyers already struggling. Another thing that should be stamped out is a certain local development company in this area offers the main spine road into these developments for adoption by the Council, then they charge householders an annual fee for maintenance on the smaller roads and cul de sac's within the development, which is written into the deeds of their property. It's just plain greed in my book. &shake&

Ian and Squiggle, thank you very much for your explanation which is really appreciated. Unfortunately my IT knowledge and skills could be written on the back of a postage stamp so it has all gone over my head and I haven't a clue how to do it the way that you have explained.Don’t want to make this too long Hugo or carry on further in this thread but, it is difficult at first. If you were ever to go a step further to try to write programming code, you could even find yourself tearing your hair out over (depending on language) what a missing or misplaced semi colon has done to your masterpiece – we have all been there. But this one is very achievable with patience and practice (the preview can help there). All the same, if just one way works for you, I’m not about to knock at and, as a user here, am of course very pleased to read what you post however it is achieved.
So I have reverted to a way which is simpler for me to grasp

Grade I listed Gwrych Castle has been secured by a preservation trust in a move described as a "great moment of history" in Wales.
After 50 years of uncertainty and having fallen into a perilous state-of-disrepair, the future of one of Wales’s most important and fairytale-like country houses is now secure.
The Grade I Iisted Gwrych Castle, Abergele, has been purchased by the Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust after the UK government-funded National Heritage Memorial Fund (NHMF) stepped in with the final piece of the financial jigsaw.
NHMF has given a grant of £600,000 in addition to a major grant from the Richard Broyd Charitable Trust, which has enabled the purchase to go ahead.

A large convoy of vehicles and caravans pitched up on the Asda car park in Kinmel Bay at around 5.30pm on Saturday (August 4).

Shoppers described how around five Asda staff members stood in the road in a bid to prevent the convoy from parking up.
