Yorkie...
Next time you are online ... can you take a look at my question below,

Ian or Dave ..
Remember the old Forum and the need to re-arrange threads more logically?
Well,  I believe this one belongs in Ask a Local,  or Help Wanted

...And surely Quiz Time belongs somwhere other than Ask a Local?
(A cynic would say it belongs in Dave and Trojans personal messages section)

Thanks,

Fest

Only just seen your posting - I mark a lot as read these days - especially those of no interest to me.

I've just read the comments by Yorkie and Fester about the travel superstore. Basically Yorkie was ignored.
This is , or was, unusual. Before the Internet came along I used to use travel agents and I used to absolutely HATE the way as soon as you got in the door to look at brouchers they were there, at your elbow, and wouldn't leave you alone to study anything. Where do you want to go? Don't know. Well this is where you should go. Etc etc
Having spent a lot of my life in retailing I would suggest the staff should acknowledge any customer with a good morning and an offer to assist if required.
By Yorkie experience it looks as if the travel trade has gone from one extreme to another. Mike

Which is one reason I now almost always use the Internet and a lovely company called Travel Republic.

On this occasion I was looking for something "special" for our Ruby Anniversary and I certainly got it - totally ignored - how "special" is that?     $angry$

Not all is lost as I am finding lots on offer on t'internet.    :D

I went on holiday a few years ago to Greece we met a couple who booked First Choice they put them in a cellar with a leaking fridge and a very nasty smell we helped them move to locally own apartments (First choice did nothing) to quote the couple' first choice last choice.

We recently bought a new shed / workshop and needed a good solid base, Tom Florence was recommended and he did a great job at a very fair price, he's just done some work on our chimney stack and ridge tiles, again a great job at a great price! A great chap!  D)

I need half a dozen old replacement windows replacing!  The hardwood sub frames have half perished and some of the glazed panels have lost their seal.  Penrhryn Bay.

Any recommendations based on recent experiences please?

The windows have been replaced in the past with double glazed units and are not the original single glazed windows.  I estimate that the work must have been carried out maybe as long as 30 years ago when they installed upvc window frames in a hardwood outer frame.  Softwood would probably have failed ages ago.  The present wooden surround is still firm but has surface cracking, odd  bits of rot and needs constant maintenance.  Easier to change them all than muck about with bits and pieces.

I have a fifteen year old white BMW.

Some rust is beginning to appear above the O/S Rear wheel.

I have been quoted over £450 by a local body shop to repair such a small area.

Can someone please recommend a small and reputable business that may be more competitive?

I just had a good job done on the Herald convertible chassis by Ian Hughes in Mochdre, a friend also said Crash Repairs in Mochdre (at the rear of Quinton Hazell) were very good too  ££$

Richmond garage in Old Colwyn back of the Honda centre just off the r'bout Erias park
I have been going there for years, very ,very reasonable.
Last job I was quoted £500 plus VAT from Ian Hughes, they did it for £200, YES £200 and it a brilliant job.
I have no connection with them other than as a satisfied customer.

Thank you both.

I shall definitely follow up those leads next week.

I am also in the market for replacing the guttering on our home and garage.

I shall also want the soffits fitted with white UPVC boards.

Has anybody got any recommendations to make again from their past experience?

I've used Richardson Windows (07940 432881) a couple of times. They did my soffits, fascias & gutters a couple of years ago & did an excellent job at a very reasonable price. I think Fester had some work done by them too & was very pleased with the results.
