THE four paddling pools in Conwy county are to re-open next year after refurbishment work.

Conwy County Borough Council said it has ?invested heavily? in the pools this year to ensure their future is secure, though delays have been caused by supply issues and wet weather.

Cllr Aaron Wynne, cabinet member for culture and leisure, said ?Given the poor weather this August and the level of repairs that have been needed, the work has taken longer than anticipated.

?The paddling pools normally close at the end of September and, to avoid further uncertainty, we have taken the decision not to re-open the pools this year, which will allow all the work to be completed to the highest standard.

It does make sense not to reopen the Paddling Pool this year but it would have made more sense if the work was started in the Spring in readiness for completion for this year's tourist trade.

Hugo what annoys me is the councillors are letting the council managers get away with all these things,   They new they were not going to open them this year,  what they are doing at Craig y don pool they do every year ( on a smaller scale ). They say they had nobody to do the work, they are the same lot that do the work every year,,,, but they were working on other council big jobs,,   They will finish Craig y don soon at a great cost the way they have been doing it,  winter comes and We All know what happens so Our money will be used to put right what damage the winter storms do ready for the season.      Don?t know if you have walked along by the Cayley prom but lots of the new railings have rusted and cracked. Shocking.

MAELGWYN ROAD CAR PARK
Two years ago McCarthy Stone announced that they had acquired an interest in Maelgwyn Road Car Park, off Gloddaeth Avenue, and that they were proposing a large block of flats for the site.  We ran a petition against the redevelopment which was signed by hundreds of local people.  Conwy County Borough Council subsequently announced that they were against the redevelopment, which could see a net loss 160 car parking spaces near the town centre.

We were really concerned when the Council recently notified us that the car park would be closed between 11 September and 15 September for McCarthy Stone to carry out initial ground works.

We'll continue to oppose the redevelopment of this site, and campaign for it to remain a public car park.  We'll aim to keep residents updated as and when we receive more information.     ref Local Gogarth Councilors news letter

THE BUILDING occupied by Mountain Warehouse in Llandudno has gone on the market for almost 1million.  ref pioneer

The 74 Mostyn Street site is home to one of the more than 300 of the outdoor retailer?s stores, selling equipment for hiking, camping, skiing, cycling, running and fitness.

The property is now on the market with estate agent St Davids Commercial, for a price of 935,000 plus VAT.

A FARM park that has been a hit with families for more than two decades will close at the end of this week.

Bodafon Farm Park will close its gates to customers for the final time on Sunday, September 24.

Owner of the farm Mark Roberts is semi-retiring. His lease with Mostyn Estates has also come to an end. He will be leaving the site in January.

The attraction, which is a working farm and is home to The Owls Trust as well as goats, deer and llama, is offering free entry to guests for its last month of opening. It is open this week from Wednesday - Sunday, 11am until 4pm

That's what worries me, as I know that the landowner is not interested  in keeping the land for farming

The current site is an eyesore with all sorts of rubbish and wrecked vehicles littering the place. It needs a total re-vamp.
personally I don't see it being built on for housing any time soon but I might be wrong, a tourism based use would make more sense.
