Hobbies and Interests / Re: Exploring The Area
« Last post by Hugo on Today at 12:12:38 pm »
Yesterday, I paid a visit to my parents grave in the Llanrhos Lawn Cemetery and was surprised to see that the Cemetery was in need of tidying up.    Whether the wet weather or CCBC cuts was to blame or perhaps a combination of both.   Whatever the reason something needs to be done
Since my last visit there someone had left a small plaque there with some very poignant words on it and I did feel quite emotional reading the words
After paying my respects I walked through the old Churchyard and saw the grave of poor Betty and it was sad to read about her life
Poor Betty (d.1842)
Her epitaph reads: ?Here lyeth the body of poor Betty, who for upwards of 50 years was a houseless wandering maniac. Died Feb 1824.? Then in Welsh: ?Y mae gorphwysfa yn y Nefoedd.? (?There?s a resting place in Heaven.?) Local people clubbed together to save her from a paupers? grave.

I then went to have a look at St Mary's Well and then the old school of Llanrhos before returning back to my car and going home

Firefighters battled blaze for hours in incident that closed main road through seaside town
Six fire engines attended the major fire in the centre of Colwyn Bay

Firefighters battled a blaze for hours in the centre of a seaside town. The North Wales Fire and Rescue Service were alerted shortly before 7pm yesterday evening to a fire in a building on Abergele Road in Colwyn Bay.

Police and firefighters attended the incident and the main road was closed to traffic. Six fire engines attended - including both engines from Colwyn Bay and Llandudno.

They were joined by the aerial ladder platform and an incident control unit. Fire crews used breathing apparatus, hose reels and a main line to tackle the blaze, supported by thermal imaging cameras.

They warned people to stay away from the area near the Pavilion pub as they fought the fire.

The crews spent more than five hours at the scene tackling the fire before the stop came in at just before midnight. There were no casualties.

That was very quick and a good try Cambrian but you're not correct this time.

I must have a look at that one in Felin Isa next time I go to Talgoed Nursery for breakfast

Very similar to many roadside wells in the area.  At a guess is it the one below the A470 at Glan Conwy on the lane down to Felin Isa ?

A friend told us how much she enjoyed watching a TV drama called The Cuckoo so we decided to give it a go.   It's a four part drama series on Channel 5 and we watched it over a couple of nights.     There were some good actors in it and we found it well worth watching
