It seems that the Royal Mail may be doing away with the second class letter delivery but could be reintroducing it under their second option
The second option was to extend the delivery times for letters, so it would take three or more days for most letters but with a pricier next-day delivery service available.
I wonder if that next day delivery would apply to the Scottish Islands?      You know how reliable  the ferries are like Mull and Storms like Storm Kathleen are getting more and more frequent

Royal Mail: What's the plan on second class deliveries and job cuts?
Royal Mail has put forward proposals as it takes steps to cut costs

Royal Mail has set out proposals to cut second-class letter deliveries but keep first-class mail as a six-days-a-week service as part of its ongoing efforts to save cash. The plans form part of the group's recent submission to the postal industry regulator, Ofcom, which is now consulting on reforms of the universal service.

Here is what is being put on the table and why.......https://www.inyourarea.co.uk/news/royal-mail-could-axe-1-000-jobs-and-cut-deliveries-heres-what-you-need-to-know/

An octopus was found by a family on a North Wales beach and returned to the sea using a dog lead. The Lumb family stumbled upon the unusual sighting during an outing to the beach in Llandudno.

On Thursday, April 4, Marie Lumb and her family, from Malpas, Cheshire, were out for the day when they encountered the stranded sea creature. Concerned about its safety, they resolved to assist it back into the sea.

The coastal defences approved for Llandudno as sands of time running out on golden beach option
Conwy council has secured ?5.2m but that will not pay for a new sandy beach

It's not the beach that so many have been asking for but Conwy council has secured a multi-million pound funding boost for Llandudno's flood defences. A campaign has been running in the resort for several years to secure the money to bring back sand as part of the new coastal defences.

They have looked on with jealously as Colwyn Bay and Rhos-on-Sea saw tonnes of golden sand piled on their beaches in recent years as part of flood protection work. Those were mainly funded by EU money while Llandudno lives with a stone covered main beach after boulders were piled there in 2014 to protect the town from floods.

The cost of going for a sand and groynes option for a 600m section of beach is estimated to cost an extra ?12.54m. Neither Welsh Government cash or new UK Government levelling-up funds - the replacement for European funding - have been on offer to cover that extra cost.

What you saw was an example of Number spoofing, Meleri, a technique which is seeing a rapid  rise at the moment.  It's simple to do and is making a fortune for scammers, particularly among the sufferers of Alzheimer's and other age-related memory issues.
