Is it fog or is it mist?

What is the difference?

I took this photo from my lounge window earlier this evening and it's looking in the direction of Llandudno and the Little Orme is peeping through the mist on the right of the photo,  I'm not sure what the other hills are.

It all depends on the density, I believe.

Hugo, that is a fantastic photo. I was wondering how far the mist /fog had spread upwards because up here in the hills it has been the most gorgeous warm and sunny day with bright blue skies!
My poor friends have been so unlucky.
They saved going to Llandudno until today and were planning on going up the Orme. Instead they walked along the pier and tell me they couldn't see the prom from there.

Brilliant photo Hugo. If that is the Little Orme on the right I reckon that must be Bryn Eurin in the foreground and Nant-y-Gamar just visible through the trees on the left. On the BBC app. forecast they are forecasting mist, (poor visibility) and fog, (very poor visibility) at various times overnight through to 0900 tomorrow morning.

I'll be able to recognise the other hills tomorrow if the mist has gone.   It seems that the mist hovered between the 200 to 300  feet mark judging from the hills that were visible in the photo.

Love the photo Hugo, the mist/fog kept coming and going here yesterday, one minute we could see the Orme, next it had gone. At one point the cable car seemed to be floating in nothing.
Mad, Bad and Dangerous to know.

Fog is still persisting strongly this morning, unusual to see it lasting so long.

Fog lifting up the Orme but still hanging heavily over the Town Centre.

Sorry.
There was meant to be a photo attached to that but it seems I'm having trouble uploading it.

The mist has lifted now from Rhos on Sea so I can make out the hills in the photo and they are  right to left, the Little Orme,  Bryn Euryn in the foreground and Penrhynside behind the tree.  I hope that we get another nice sunset tonight.

On a different topic, I've noticed many drivers lately driving straight across the pedestrian crossings along the prom, whilst there were people waiting to cross. The driver often seems blissfully unaware that there is even a crossing there, which makes you wonder as to their suitability to be still driving!

Taken FROM  THE HIGHWAY CODE
Rule 19 CLEARLY states:
Zebra crossings. Give traffic plenty of time to see you and to stop before you start to cross. Vehicles will need more time when the road is slippery. Wait until traffic has stopped from both directions or the road is clear before crossing. Remember that traffic does not have to stop until someone has moved onto the crossing. Keep looking both ways, and listening, in case a driver or rider has not seen you and attempts to overtake a vehicle that has stopped.
Remember - traffic does not have to stop

The ONLY time a pedestrian has right of way is when they are actually ON the crossing
