Really impressive image Dave! - worthy of the US TV programme 'Storm Chasers' I thought.

But what a fantastic vindication of the 3T forum (and the internet in general of course) that here across the sea in Nijmegen I can get personal experiences of an event from totally different perspectives within hours/minutes of it happening. In this case, Ormegolf's encounter with old forum friends in the thunderstorm, and your dramatic photograph of same thunderstorm as it passed over them - almost unbelievable really....

It is all very much appreciated!

During the cloudburst on Saturday afternoon, I took this photo looking up my garden, which kind of backs on to Mike's golf course.

You can't really tell from this just how horrendous the storm was, it sounded like hailstones to me, such was the ferocity  the raindrops... It sure wasn't summer weather!   Or maybe these days, it was!

There were hailstones when the storm passed over me. It started as rain and got heavier & heavier and then hail thundered down for about 3 minutes at the worst point of the storm.

Is it true the Llandudno Sandcastle Competition sponsored by the Imperial Hotel and scheduled for Tuesday, 14 August 2012 has been cancelled due to a lack of sand on the North Shore?

Rhos-on-Sea has plenty of sand -  and isn't that part of CCBC's domain?    WWW

They could hold it at the West Shore, loads of sand there, especially around the roads! ;D

Yes they've just tweeted:

"Very sorry everyone but regrettably we're having to cancel our Sandcastle Competition on 14 August due to the state of North Shore Beach. "
