LIFEBOAT CALLED TO LITTLE ORME

Llandudno RNLI inshore lifeboat was called out at 4.40 p.m. today (Sunday 1/4) to go to the assistance of three youths, two of whom were in solo kayaks with the third on a stand-up paddle board.

All three had experienced difficulties in the choppy sea conditions off the Little Orme's Angel Bay; the youth on the board had fallen off it into the sea a number of times and as a result was cold, wet and tiring.

Launching from tthe north shore at 4.51 p.m. the lifeboat reached the scene minutes later just as the youths had managed to come ashore to safety at Penrhyn beach.

The RNLI crew ascertained that none of the three needed medical attention and remained with them until Llandudno coastguard arrived to give the trio some sea safety advice. The lifeboat then returned to Llandudno for recovery.

North Wales fire authority are sneaking the ladder out of Llandudno in the morning 7am.

What???  Why so sudden?

I believed that the decision was taken not to REPLACE the ladder after reaching the end of its useful life?, not to lose it immediately.
Why did it suddenly become obsolete from one day to the next??   $angry$ $angry$

I think they are withdrawing an older one in Wrexham & replacing it with the newer Llandudno one.

Then I am truly outraged.

So we have a perfectly good appliance, someone else's is clapped out... and we lose ours?

That is entirely different to the scenario that I understood... i.e. Llandudno wouldn't get another when ours became unserviceable.

From memory the powers that be tried to get rid of the Llandudno ALP around 2007 when the one there then was becoming time-expired.  Local efforts by the FBU, councillors etc ensured they ordered a new one which is the one which left on Sunday so it was only about 4 years old.

If decisions are being taken on the sort of parochialism we have seen, perhaps Fire Authorities should be abolished and an all-Wales Fire Service created (provided its HQ is north of Merthyr of course!)

The evidence is clear, we have been lied to.

If I wasn't so jaundiced and cynical about local politicians (or any politicians) whether AM's or councillors, I would contact them about this.

On the evidence of your pictures Dave, it looks like one of the two brand new Welsh flags has blown away from the Pier slide.

I'm off to shelter in Caffe Nero for the remainder of the morning.

Impressive pictures David.

What a difference a day or two makes from quiet weather with sunshine to the last 24 hours or so with heavy rain and winds, and it's cold with it too.
I think Fester has the best idea.

The other flag is hanging by a thread.  $walesflag$

Several of the glass globes on the lights leading up to Happy Valley have either blown off completely or are hanging off.

There is also a green wheelie bin in the middle of the road outside Broadway Boulevard.

Asda car park was nigh on impassable this morning, people were being blown all over the place with their trolleys.
