Busiest day of the year so far in Llandudno. The sunshine has brought the crowds out in force.

A busy Llandudno today:

Which carried on into the night.  The wheels didn't stop turning until two minutes before I poured my first vodka at 4am!

The Hoosons and old Boots Chemists shops on Mostyn Street have had their windows blocked up after closure and all the signage removed this afternoon. Odd that no attempt has been made to let the premises before closure?

Several of the town's miscreants were caged this afternoon at the pier entrance in aid of St. Davids Hospice and were only released when they had raised enough money for the charity. Amongst those visible are the Pier Manager, Conservative AM candidate Janet Finch-Saunders, The Manager of the Imperial Hotel, The Manager of Bodyshop, The Headmaster of Ysgol San Sior, The Manager of the Afon Conwy, The Mayor of Llandudno... Fair play to them all for being sporting enough to take part.

Some more photos of the St. Davids Hospice Fundraising event on the Pier.

1) Pier manager, Simon Mason, slips out of his handcuffs.
2) The Mayor of Llandudno, Ann Yates, is removed by PC Mike Smith after some unseemly behaviour.
3) Marcus Williams (Manager of the Imperial Hotel) attempts a spot of singing.
4) Ian Jones (Headmaster of Ysgol San Siôr) also attempts a spot of singing.

Some more photos...

1) Sue Jeffrey (Manager of the Llandudno Bodyshop) takes the microphone for a sing song.
2) Catwoman (Janet Magill) strikes her best Shirley Bassey pose.
3) Double Act - Man In Black (Derrick Orme - Tudno FM Presenter) and Pier Manager Simon Mason attempt a double act. Key word...'attempt'.
4) Some say she's just a clown...but we know better. The legendary Janet Finch-Saunders!!!

The Great Orme Tramway seems to be going backwards (not literally) in terms of its financial performance:

In 2008/9, it had a turnover of £620,000 and a Profit of £30,000
In 2009/10, it had a turnover of £710,000 and a Profit of £21,000

If all they can make on £620,00 is a measly 5% (approx), and 3% (approx) on £710,000 someone needs firing!   Was there exceptional overheads those years, or was it just damn bad management?   I feel a FoI request coming on!     D)

they did have some accident repairs to do in the winter of 2009 / 2010 and if I remember correctly they stopped running after the accident on the upper section
