My wife came up with the answer to the problem of Llandudno flooding from increased sea levels at a meeting with our EU MP years ago. There was a 2 billion euro grant available for one project in North Wales and did anyone have a suggestion as to what it could be spent on. So being a local girl and business owner she suggested raising the promenade up by 2 meters, installing a thicker seawall and putting 2 layers of car parking down the full length from the Pier to the Little Orme. She even suggested that we could put public conveniences in every 100 meters or so. Nothing else was put forward and the grant money was never used. And instead we got 120,000 tons of quarry waist, paid for out of our rates, lost our beach and are still liable to flooding.
(What do you call 100 county councillors chained together at the bottom of Llandudno Bay?...........A very good start.)
