Ah, that happened around the corner from us Hugo, wondered what all the lights and commotion was all about. No shortage of idiots doing 50 around here, good to see this clown took a wrong turn into a cul de sac.

If you saw the large police presence this morning.............

Up to 10 police cars were called to Mostyn Avenue in Craig Y Don, Llandudno, at around 10.40am today.                    ref DP

A North Wales Police spokesman said: "We were called to Mostyn Aveue at 10.42am. Someone was arrested after decamping from a car. They were arrested on suspicion of drug offences."

Good for the area, but again WG funding to a private company  :-\

SNOWSPORT fans can enjoy new improvements made to a Llandudno attraction.

Llandudno Snowsport Centre reopened earlier this month with a newly resurfaced main slope.
Skiers and snowboarders are already enjoying putting the modern ski tech bristle matting through its paces.

“The total £300k cost of the redevelopment by the facility’s owners John Nike Leisure (Bracknel Berkshire ltd) was massively assisted by the Place for Sport funding.”
A grant of £75,000 went towards the Llandudno resurfacing.

When the pavement eventually gets replaced by CCBC on the other side of the road in Mostyn Street, I wonder if only six feet of the outer pavement here will be replaced.

I can never understand how they are allowed to block that much of the pavement,  talking of pavements last year they were meant to have fixed the block paving along the vic centre it seems worse now than it was.

You can also see a tree and a pole towards the pavement edge.

As a consequence, there is actually only a gap of four feet, or the width of two paving slabs, for pedestrians to pass through.

The two Barrels and the Karaoke signs are actually on the pavement not on the Town House front garden. If it's a problem, report it on fixmystreet.com and gain another 3 feet of Pavement. {}{}

Local police were very busy yesterday......

"A WOMAN has been seriously injured following an incident involving a vehicle on a driveway in Craig y Don.
“The woman was treated by paramedics at the scene and police officers assisted. At this stage the circumstances of what happened are unclear, the investigation is being led by officers from the Roads Policing Unit. The vehicle involved is being removed for examination. "

"A biker was killed in a late-night crash in Conwy county.
The male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the two-vehicle collision, which involved a Vauxhall Astra, on the B5106 near Ty'n y Groes on Thursday night.
"Major police presence on the B5106 by Tal-y-Cafyn. Armed response and two traffic officers there at the moment and more police cars going over the Tal-y-Cafyn bridge."

"Knife victim staggers into McDonald's after violent incident at hotel car park"
North Wales Police, said, “An incident, involving the use of a knife, is believed to have happened in the car park of the Links Hotel on Conwy Road, whereby the male has received lacerations to his face."                                       All DP ref

Quite honestly, Blongb, I believe the present problem will disappear when the pavement is eventually replaced on this side of Mostyn Street.

I am also of the opinion those paving slabs are actually two feet wide and if so, pedestrians are likely to retrieve up to four feet giving them as much as eight feet to pass by that tree and pole.

It was nice to read an article in today's NWWN by John Lawson Reay entitled "Town commemorates a remarkable man"
It was an article about William MacMullan otherwise known to everyone as Billy Mac.    It was a fitting tribute to Billy and everyone who has met him always had a good word to say about him.
As a group in our teens we would always meet up there in the evening before going into town and then again before going home.  To us he was a fountain of knowledge and always gave us sound advice if we ever asked him about something, which we did quite often.
He was such a lovely guy that he would be missed by all who had met him.   It was good to see the name of the shop still there as it brings back many happy memories of my younger days

I know housing is important, but they do seem to be cramming them in, the comment re "narrow thoroughfare" is an understatement, not as economical, but Llandudno needs the car parking.

A public consultation is underway about a brownfield site, town centre housing development that could encourage people to ditch their cars for greener transport.       ref Pioneer

The 89-home mixed development would be built on derelict land between Builder Street and Llandudno railway station.
Builder Street is home to a number of small businesses and is a narrow thoroughfare – but busy during business hours.

The scheme would see 33 two, three and four bedroom homes, plus 56 one and two bedroom apartments.

Because of the site’s close proximity to local shops, Llandudno rail station and local bus services it is being promoted in the travel plan as good for cyclists and walkers.

The report says the proposed development would be “highly accessible by non-car modes, which would assist in promoting a choice of travel modes other than the private car”.

Steve Grimster, of Grimster Planning consultancy in Cheshire, is working on the project on behalf of Lane End Development Construction Ltd, based in Warrington.

He wants local people to have their say on the idea to turn one of the town’s eyesores into apartments and family homes, by commenting in a “pre-planning consultation”.
He said: “We would certainly encourage people to make their comments known. It’s a transparent way of doing things and gives local people a chance to have their say.”

The 1.3 hectare parcel of land, which has been used as an impromptu car park and currently houses a hand car wash, has also been a venue for some of the town’s homeless people. It is also bordered by Oxford Road.

The proposal, which has not yet been submitted to Conwy county council, would see 11 two-bedroom, 14 three-bedroom and eight four-bedroom homes on the site.

In addition, there would be 30 two-bedroom and 26 one-bedroom apartments in the scheme.

The site is listed in a C1 (low risk) flood zone and reports by the developer state groundwater flooding will not be a problem. A small area of land will be elevated to minimise any flood fears.

Must admit I'd have thought car parking would have been prioritised there, might help boost the town centre again.

However, if they do go down the housing route which "could encourage people to ditch their cars for greener transport" maybe they should start by not providing any parking spaces and see how far they get trying to sell them.
