It sounds like a reversal role with  that idea because years ago there was a market behind Wetherspoons but that was demolished to make way for a car park

I think use of the car park has been discussed a few times over the years but ERF department always seemed keen to keep the car park revenue coming in!

I remember there was a shoe repair/cobblers shop in the market that Uncle Hugh from Tan Y Wal, Penrhynside used to work in occasionally. Not sure but think he was related to whoever ran the shop.
Anyone one old enough to remember it ?

Luxury cruise ship anchored off Llandudno with passengers brought ashore to explore local area           ref DP
The MV Sea Spirit is on a UK tour and spent the day between the Great and Little Orme headlands

Passengers on the Poseidon Adventures tour were taken by tender to the shore. They were then given the opportunity to either spend time in the town or head to Conwy Castle and Snowdonia.

The ship left the resort in the early evening and is now heading into the Irish Sea towards Northern Ireland. Work has been going on in recent years to boost cruise ship visits to North Wales with Holyhead now a key stop-off on most tours of the Uk and Ireland.

Plans for a campervan site in Llandudno have been opposed by the town council. An application has been submitted to Conwy County Council’s planning committee for permission for a certificate allowing a small campervan site at Tan Yr Allt in Craig y Don.

Paul Collins has written to the council hoping he can make a small profit by allowing as many as five campervans to use his land at one time. But, despite the plans being relatively small-scale, a neighbour has objected to his proposals as well as the town council.

In a letter of objection to Conwy’s planning committee, Llandudno Town Council wrote: “Recommended refusal on the grounds that the location is unsuitable for a camper van site due to concerns that the road infrastructure would be unable to accommodate this type of traffic."

A Llandudno-based construction company has been shortlisted for ‘Fit-out/Refurbishment of the Year’ at Insider Wales’ Property Awards 2022.

Bearmont Construction headed a £250,000 renovation project to completely convert Knightsbridge House Boutique, a Grade II listed retail unit over five floors into specialist shops and a three-bedroom luxury flat.

Working to transform the dated building, Bearmont Construction refurbished the external facade and renovated and secured all marble and bronze elements.

Located in the Llandudno Conservation Area, the former family business, David Roberts Shoes, had been established for over 100 years, so it was important to achieve a balance between the planner’s new ideas, and the listing restrictions involved when creating a rejuvenated new space.

A 10-year regeneration plan is set to be developed for Llandudno. Conwy County Borough Council has commissioned global firm Mace Consult Ltd to help draw up the blueprint to guide investment over the next decade.

This work has been supported via Transforming Towns funding from Welsh Government. The local business community, Llandudno Town Councillors, County Councillors and key stakeholders have been invited to an event at Venue Cymru today to give their views.

This will feed into the ?Llandudno 10 Year Regeneration Plan? which will be drawn up after local consultation. A spokesperson for the local authority said: ?Conwy County Borough Council recently commissioned Mace Consult Ltd to develop a 10 Year Regeneration Plan for the town that will shape and influence regeneration and investment activity in Llandudno for the next 10 years, and support further community consultation and funding applications.?

I know this is an obvious joke, but couldn't resist ...

A big hole has appeared in the road - the council are looking into it.

Footage shows the moment two huge RAF aircraft were spotted flying low over the coast of North Wales. RAF C130 Hercules Jigsaw-1 and Jigsaw-2 were captured flying over the Conwy estuary before circling over Llandudno.

The C130 Hercules planes could be seen gliding through the sky after being tracked on flightradar traveling from their base in Carterton on Tuesday, June 7 as part of what's believed to be a routine training exercise.

The impressive aircraft from RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire had been flying over North Wales between 9pm and 9.30pm, as part of essential roll check training. This type of training makes sure crews are "ready and able to deploy on global operations".

A winter wage subsidy saw more than 40 workers paid by a UK fund in a bid to recruit and retain staff for the tourism and hospitality sectors in Llandudno - and will be extended this autumn. The project saw ?210,000 of its budget spent between February and May - with 22 applications from businesses approved.

It will roll out across Conwy county from October to December - but funding will then come to an end. The scheme - a partnership between Busnes@llandrillomenai and Mostyn Estates - is part of an ?825,000 tourism project backed by the UK Government?s Community Renewal Fund.

The idea with the wage subsidy was that as well as helping keep and recruit staff it would allow them to undertake additional tasks and develop new ideas. Jim Jones, chief executive at North Wales Tourism, said: ?I?m pleased to see that common sense has prevailed and the wage subsidy that Llandudno businesses have been getting is being rolled out to the rest of the Conwy County businesses.

Re: What's Llandudno Like Right Now?........Llandudno Hospital
« Reply #8699 on: June 16, 2022, 09:46:46 am »
THE operating theatre at Llandudno General Hospital has reopened in an important step towards reducing the number of patients waiting for surgical procedures.

The unit reopened during May 2022 and treats day surgery patients, meaning that the patient does not need to stay overnight.

Hernia, gallbladder and some orthopaedic procedures are now being carried out in the theatre to help increase the capacity available to treat more patients waiting for operations.

Graham Whiteley, clinical lead for surgery at Ysbyty Gwynedd, who has used Llandudno Hospital operating theatres for more than 20 years, welcomed the reopening of the facility.

He said: ?Llandudno Theatre is the ideal setting for day case surgery when combined with the ward facilities within the hospital.

?Patients value the relaxed atmosphere at Llandudno Hospital when they are going through the anxious time associated with surgery.

?A high throughput of surgery is possible when the theatre is used efficiently.

?I have found Llandudno to be a useful safety valve when beds at Ysbyty Gwynedd are unavailable for whatever reason.?
