I do hope that this isn't going to be left visible when the Remembrance service takes place. I might be stuffy, but I think that this should at least be covered over out of respect.

Update...ref DP

Police have launched an investigation into a suspected late night break in at a well-known high street jewellers.

Officers swooped on the Goldsmiths store in Mostyn Street, Llandudno, at about 8.30pm last night (November 12).

Armed police, doghandlers and firefighters attended the incident and a stretch of the street was cordoned off. But it is not believed that any watches, necklaces or other items were taken.

Firefighters reported an alarm going off at Goldsmiths and told police at 8.37pm last night.

Officers went to the scene and found smoke had been activated as part of the security system.

The force spokesman said police have launched an investigation into a suspected break-in and enquiries are ongoing.

LLANDUDNO'S Christmas Parade will return to the town next month.                 ref Pioneer

The parade will travel from Llandudno Train Station on Saturday, December 4 at 4pm.

The parade usually goes from the railway station, up Vaughan Street, to Mostyn Street, into Lloyd Street, down Madoc Street, Augusta Street and back to the station.

THE Wales Spring Fair returns to Llandudno in January with the hope of boosting the retail industry after a tough 18 months.
Celebrating its 42nd year, the regional show for traders across North Wales and North West England to display tens of thousands of products takes place over three days from January 23-25 at Venue Cymru.

With over 500 tourist attractions and gift shops within a 30-mile radius of Llandudno, the show provides the opportunity for buyers and owners of tourist attractions, independent and multiple retailers, hotels, galleries and garden centres to stock up on the latest items.

Yesterday we received email correspondence from McCarthy Stone regarding their plans to redevelop Maelgwyn Road Car Park.  For the second time this year, McCarthy Stone are carrying out a Pre-Application Consultation, and intend to submit a formal planning application following the consultation.  We understand that McCarthy Stone will be writing to residents living near the car park over the coming days.

There do not appear to be any significant changes following their previous consultation, carried out earlier this year.  They still intend to build 55 flats on the car park, but provide only 21 car parking spaces, for private residents only.  This leaves 34 flats without car parking space.  The development will also remove the 126 public car parking spaces that the car park currently provides.  That means we could lose 160 car parking spaces near the town centre - and we all know how hard it is to find parking in Llandudno.  The scale of the building will also dwarf other buildings in the immediate vicinity.  It simply isn't right in that location.

We would encourage everyone who is concerned about this development to click here to view McCarthy Stone's proposals and to participate in the consultation.  When submitting a formal planning application McCarthy Stone will have to list the issues raised in the Pre-Application Consultation and explain what steps they are taking to mitigate them.  Even though Conwy County Borough Council's Environment, Roads and Facilities Service are taking steps to safeguard the car park from development, it is still important that you provide your feedback.

VIEW & COMMENT ON THE PLANS  You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

You can respond to the consultation through McCarthy Stone's website, by emailing    feedback@mccarthystoneconsultation.co.uk     or writing to McCarthy Stone Llandudno Consultation, BECG, Dalton Place, 29 John Dalton Street, Manchester, M2 6FW.  The consultation is open until 22nd December.

A SOCIAL enterprise in Llandudno is helping keep children in Conwy warm this Christmas through its latest campaign.

Having seen some turn up to the primary school she used to work at without coats during the winter, Ally has been helping distribute coats donated by residents to schools, charities and more across the region.

“We just thought, well, we’re sat here with no proms on or anything, so we did a campaign and started collecting the coats. We’ve had about 100 donated to us so far.

“People donate them to our shops, and we’ve been in touch with all of the local schools, charities, and food banks; we’ve got a referral form, so if anyone needs help with a coat, they just have to fill in that form and then we can get them one.

“The form just asks what size and age children they have, things like that.”

People can get in touch by either donating coats at Prom Ally’s base at 23 Madoc Street, Llandudno (open 10am – 4pm from Tuesday to Saturday), or by emailing: coats4kidsconwy@gmail.com.

Alternatively, for those unable to visit Prom Ally’s shop during its opening hours, Ally added that the Wilko store in Mostyn Champneys Retail Park has also said it will happily accept coat donations (open 9am – 6pm every day apart from Sunday: 10am – 4pm).

Developer urged to withdraw 55 homes plan on Llandudno parking site for cars and campervans
McCarthy Stone want to erect apartments for the over 60s on the Maelgwyn Road car park
An interesting comment from the Senedd member was that she urged the developer to instead reach a deal with Anwyl Homes for the former Gogarth Abbey Hotel site at West Shore, which has been empty for over a decade.  ( it's actually nearer two decades )
