Sam Rowlands, MS for North Wales, paid a visit to the newly refurbished and reopened Llandudno Museum on Gloddaeth Street.

He said: “The Llandudno Museum has undergone a significant refurbishment and I was delighted to be given the opportunity to have a look round.

“It is full of history and tells the fascinating story of Llandudno from prehistoric times through to the present day. This includes a little known fact that the town hosted the 1865 and 1866 Olympic Festivals, forerunners of the modern day Olympics

“There is something there for everyone and it even has an exhibition displaying work by local schools which reflects upon the Covid-19 lockdown.

“I am delighted to see Llandudno Museum open again as it provides another excellent indoor tourist attraction for the area where we already have the Home Front Experience, Penderyn Whiskey’s distillery and the Boathouse Climbing Centre."

The refurbishment has been supported by Mostyn Estates, the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Garfield Weston Foundation, the Welsh Government, Conwy County Borough Council, Llandudno Town Council and RWE who run the Gwynt y Mor offshore windfarm.

The museum also includes a new garden space at the rear of the building, maintained by volunteers from local rehabilitation organisation CAIS.                     ref pioneer

The Ferris wheel is actually made by Lamborghini Rides. This is not the same company as the car manufacturer.

There's surprisingly little about Lamborghini Rides in the pubic domain, other than they're a multi-national company, based in Rome, which designs, builds and exports fairground rides all over the world.

Lamborghini cars, of course, is owned by VW.

The upper floors of a Llandudno department store could become apartments in a new plan to breathe life into the site..

The Madoc Street building had housed Lazars for several decades before the site later became a Littlewoods clearance store under the Outlet brand.

This shop closed in 2018 and has been empty since then.
Now a plan has been submitted by applicant Marc Larner to change the first, second and third floors of the building into eight flats.

Under the proposal the building's exterior would be revamped while retail would be retained on the ground floor.

They also said they would strip the "crude" first floor shop front addition to return the buildings back to a closer representation of the original building.

I wonder how many of the flats will be affordable for local people?     If none of the flats are affordable then it will be interesting to see how much the developer volunteers to pay in lieu of not building affordable properties

I was looking to see what type of houses they built, without success, however I did notice it is the same company looking at the M&Co building, on Gloddaeth St. I posted on the Shop thread a few days ago.........  https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/property/three-prominent-north-wales-store-21540748

Re: What's Llandudno Like Right Now?......Firework display
« Reply #8557 on: September 15, 2021, 02:25:18 pm »
LLANDUDNO's firework display is set to come back with a bang this November.

The display will be held on Sunday, November 7 at 6.20pm at Llandudno North Shore beach.

If adverse weather conditions prevent the event from going ahead on this date, it will be held on Monday, November 8 at 7pm.

A spokesperson for Llandudno Town Council said: "These dates are the only ones that fit in with tidal times and ranges that allow sufficient time to safely set up, hold the display, and then remove all the equipment necessary to fire the display.

"The event is subject to the weather, and any changes to Covid-19 regulations and Alert levels."

It’s the former Outfit store, Hugo, on Parc Llandudno.

If you enter Parc Llandudno from the area of the Llandudno Swimming Pool, it is the large building on your left as you walk through.
