This site would be best used for car parking, absolutely ideal position........

Developers who said there was no business use demand on “bomb site” land in Llandudno have put in plans for five commercial units.

Councillors deferred a planning decision on a residential scheme from Warrington-based Lane End Developments, who were working with social landlord Clwyd  Alyn, in December.

The scheme was deferred by councillors at the Conwy county council planning meeting and eventually withdrawn by the company.
The applicant said at the time there was no business use demand for the land.

Now the company’s submission is for five business units between 20-40m deep, 4-6.5m high and 9-13.5m in length.

I thought that a planning application for affordable housing on this site had been passed some time ago, so what has changed?

I have just had a look on CCBC Planning Portal & the first application 0/47284 went in 24/4/2020 for 89 dwellings which consisted of 33 houses & 56 apartments. That went to the Planning Committee in December 2020. A senior Planning Officer advised as the site was allocated for B1 employment on the Local Development Plan in 2013, the onus was on the applicant to demonstrate that there was no demand for that. So the Planning Committee deferred a decision to enable the applicant time to provide the details.

Then that application was withdrawn & another was registered 5/2/2021 No 0/48144 this time for 77 dwellings a reduction of 12. They have put in a considerable amount of expensive surveys such as reptile/bats/biodiversity habitat etc & 3 pages of plans for planting amongst other things, so they must think they are in with a chance spending all that money.

It's difficult to get a good outcome when the Planning Officers (not Committee) are against an application & one mentioned at the meeting if the land isn't to go for B1 use it could be used for a green space which is lacking in Llandudno.

I didn't read the article in much detail but there was a mention of possible contamination on the site,  but that didn't seem to affect the planning for Ysgol John Bright which was built on the site of a rubbish dump and Gas Works.

The old Bryant and Hocknel site development nearing completion.

Cartrefi Conwy are currently developing exciting new affordable homes on Gloddaeth Street, Llandudno alongside Creating Enterprise and Brenig Construction, centrally located in a desirable area of Llandudno.

This £1.75 development has seen the demolition of the vacant Bryant and Hocknell building in 2019 which many will remember was previously a furniture shop for many years, and redevelopment of this modern exciting build, delivering 16 brand new 2 bed apartments utilising timber framed panel construction which is fast and sustainable.

Making great use of space, these 2 bed properties are ideal for young families starting out or couples looking to save up for a deposit to get on the property ladder. The development is also ideally located with a short walk into the centre of town, beach and railway station all at your doorstep.

Some features of the apartments will be energy efficient lighting throughout, modern kitchen and bathrooms, carpets and blinds with allocated parking for tenants outside the property.

These will be intermediate rent properties, meaning  they are typically 20% less than the market rate. You can find more information on the Intermediate scheme below and the rent for these properties will be £500pcm.

WILD goats whose cheeky antics (  $hands$) on Llandudno’s deserted streets during lockdown attracted global attention are being immortalised in a stunning new work of art.

The boundary wall around the town's Tre Cwm estate is to be given a colourful makeover, after planning permission was granted for an eye-catching new mural to be placed on it.

The artwork captures many of the things most associated with Llandudno, including the Kashmiri goats who became known around the world after heading into the town centre en masse last year and munching on whatever took their fancy.

The mural will be seen by thousands of motorists every day as they enter Llandudno from Deganwy, potentially serving a similar role to the distinctive 'Welcome to Llandudno' sign that greets visitors arriving via Penrhyn Bay.

Artist Kevin Stonehouse, 65, who has lived on the estate for most of his life, has depicted the goats in their more familiar surroundings of the Great Orme.

They are accompanied on the artwork by Alice in Wonderland and other familiar sights like town's promenade, ski slope and tramway.

And up early this morning for breakfast at the St. Georges......... https://www.northwalespioneer.co.uk/news/19134927.cheeky-mountain-goats-head-st-georges-hotel-llandudno-breakfast/

This is the ongoing direct result of CCBC's failure to act as responsible custodian's of the Cashmere Goats. It's obvious that in the Winter there is insufficient fodder on the Orme to support the heard but no supplementary feed is supplied. As a result each evening Gardens all over Gogarth are plundered by the beasts. If they were in the care of a private owner the RSPCA would have had them in Court a long time ago for Neglect and Animal Cruelty.  $angry$

About 20 of the goats were wandering around Craig Y Don this morning, not far from Blind Veterans:
