Tonight's BBC News main story about county lines drug dealers didn't show LLandudno in a good light that's for sure.

That on the news today was tame compared to what they should have shown , as soon as the police get rid of one lot the housing put another lot in, the druggies look more dead than alive.

A lot of hype in the media over the Corrie filming, but I think this photo is one for the "Times past" thread of the future.

I was amazed to read in the Daily Post that Mostyn Estates apparently believes that the taxpayer should foot the bill for replacing the pavements along Mostyn Street on the areas of the pavement that they own.
My question...are they hard up or just greedy?

It would appear that work will start early September on pavement repairs in parts of Mostyn St, as discussed last year, but only on council property.

If measures were put in place to prevent any and all vehicles from parking on the Pavements, the repair bill would be significantly reduced. I also hope the Council will take the opportunity to actually level the footpath. Try pushing a wheelchair down Mostyn Street and you will soon see how badly they slope, when you consider how flat the main part of Llandudno is supposed to be.

LLANDUDNO promenade will be turned into a bikers’ paradise when the British Motorcycle Preservation Society holds its Magnificent Motorcycles display of classic bikes.

The display will be held on Sunday, September 1 between 10am and 3pm, when it is hoped a large number of bikes from yesteryear will be exhibited.

The display is being organised in conjunction with a number of motorcycle clubs including the Whistle Stop Café, Goldwing and Wirral Wobblers.

In addition talks will be given by Blind Veterans UK’s Billy Baxter, the Fastest Blind Man on a Bike (the current Guinness World Record holder) and Blood Bike Wales.                                                                                          ref Pioneer

Britain’s finest Honda Goldwings, the world’s top touring motorbikes, were on display again in Llandudno.

The Goldwing Light Parade is one of the UK’s most exciting charity events which took place the along the Llandudno sea front and promenade in front of thousands of visitors to the town.

The annual event has successfully raised thousands of pounds for the Llandudno RNLI, Blood Bikes and the Lions Charities. Volunteers from the Llandudno Lifeboat were delighted to be able to support the parade this year, with the inshore lifeboat going on exercise to please the visitors who had arrived to see the two hundred and thirty-nine Honda Goldwings on Display.

Dave Crowley, Secretary of the Light Parade committee commented on how important the event is to help maintain the RNLI's valuable work in Llandudno, he also explained that after this year’s eighth parade a figure of over £30,000 would have been raised for local charities.

The new pavements and kerb stones, are looking extremely smart, with granite?  flags, a great asset to the town, pity it is only half a job.

PS from above............    I noticed the H. Samuel shop, being gutted this morning, everything being loaded onto vans, (which incidentally were parked on the new pavement, so hopefully no oil stains )  now rumors around that the staff were unaware of this situation, and were working as normal yesterday.

Why did the council not take steps to stop pavement parking as part of the refurbishment such as putting bollards along the edges?

I dread to think of the expense involved, and where do you stop, from my own observations, I don't think the general public pavement park on Mostyn St. also I suspect the traffic warden would have to take action ?  .......... now parallel parking is a different matter, I have seen some shocking attempts, I think the local body repairers would do a thriving trade.

PS   In slight mitigation of the parked removal vans, the pavement works team, had blocked the road with their equipment.

PPS  Standing outside Costa coffee yesterday, I noticed that the new pavements only make the old look worse than before, it struck me that a good pressure washing would make an improvement and would not be to costly.

A bit of an asset for the the hotels etc, (if advertised enough).............    I wonder who's paying ?  just noticed it coincides with the well discussed Xmas Fayre, which is 14th 17th Nov.

New Llandudno Winter Light event to bring to life stories that have 'lurked in the darkness'.

THERE is something exciting planned set to awaken the dark winter nights this November.
Llandudno will come alive with a procession of mythical monsters, Vikings and an unlikely troupe from a Victorian circus on November 16.
Starting at 7pm, the new event for Llandudno - entitled Chapter I - aims to bring the ‘light’ in to Llandudno.
The forgotten story of the Great Orme will be brought to life.

There will be music, special effects and a performance including community engagement and a ‘teaser’ of what is to come for Chapter II - on December 14 at 7pm.

Rachael Gill, Corporate Events, Communications and Marketing Manager of Conwy County Borough Council, said: “This is a new event for the town. It is all about bringing the history of Llandudno to life - with the Vikings and the Orme.

“The first element is all about myths and monsters and bringing the light into Llandudno. There will be participants from local community groups and torch bearers.

“It all all about people with the procession. Thee will also be street entertainment and a teaser of chapter II when a building will be lit up.”
Chapter II unfolds with ‘The Mermaid’s Purse’.

There will be music, special effects and as well as community engagement

This will feature a Technicolour tale of the Conwy Mermaid in spectacular digital projection and illumination. A narrative will be told through a series of projections by Illuminos on the strip of nine buildings running from the King’s Arms to the edge of Mostyn Street, opposite North Western Gardens.

Buildings will be transformed into windows on time as, from one moment the mermaid slips through the waves of the sea as Vikings give chase, before her shadow is spotted amidst a Victorian funfair where the reward for her capture - a mermaid’s purse - inspires the ringmaster to follow in hot pursuit.

Mrs Gill added: “It is perfect for the whole family.

“It is about creating mystic, intrigue, things not known about Llandudno, the Vikings, Victoria age and long back. Conwy Council is open 12 months of the year. It is about pushing footfall, this is part of that.”                                        ref Pioneer

A bit more on the above...........

Mythical monsters, Vikings and a Victorian circus troupe set to draw thousands to Llandudno
Two events are being held in the town, the second of which will see key buildings lit up through an eye-catching series of projection.

A new £200,000 winter event is coming to Llandudno in a bid to attract more visitors so the county can reach its ambitious £1bn tourism economy target.

Conwy Council's events team, who were behind last weekend's Wales Rally GB, have engaged Salford-based Walk the Plank-outdoor entertainment specialists, who have arranged high profile events across the UK, to organise the parade and a second event that will see buildings being lit up by illuminos.    cont    https://www.dailypost.co.uk/whats-on/whats-on-news/mythical-monsters-vikings-victorian-circus-17011131

Half price fares on Great Orme Tramway for Conwy county people.

LLANDUDNO's Great Orme Tramway will host its first community weekend event to thank local residents for their support of this much loved Llandudno attraction.

Residents of Conwy county will be able to claim half price entry to the attraction on Saturday October 19 and Sunday October 20.

Anyone who can prove they live in Conwy county will be entitled to take up the deal. The offer can be used for up to six people per address. Tramway officials say they hope to reconnect with people who have not visited the attraction for some years and to remind them that they are there.    cont   https://www.northwalespioneer.co.uk/news/17956759.half-price-fares-great-orme-tramway-conwy-people/

Having a nice cuppa in the garden, and have just been buzzed by a low flying Chinook, came over Westshore and turned around, over the town,  for a second pass before disappearing up the valley, very impressive.    no time to get camera so stock photo
