Hardy thrill seekers braved the freezing waves of the Irish Sea, for the annual Boxing day dips.

Despite the weather being unseasonably mild, the sea remained icy for the hundreds that dashed into the water for the traditional event.
Donning fancy dress - or just their swimwear - daredevils ran from the beach into the water and all for charitable causes.
In North Wales, there were several organised Boxing Day Dips taking place across the region - including one at Llandudno.

Hi Fester, DP article on the fire.......
"A fire at a restaurant closed a main shopping street for more than three hours.

Fire crews were called after 10am to the Wildwood restaurant on Mostyn Street, Llandudno, after a fault in a pizza oven sparked the blaze.
No one was injured but it is believed some staff were on site preparing for the store's opening at 11am.

Fire service crews remained in the restaurant and part of the street was cordoned off for more than three hours as they worked at the scene."

We had a look at the waves this afternoon, high tide and a strong northerly wind.

Thanks both, they were taken on my Samsung smartphone and edited with Snapseed on the phone. Only hard part was standing steady in the wind and getting back in the car without the door blowing off !  ;D

Work to transform a historic lifeboat station into a climbing centre is nearing completion.

Pioneer reporter Patrick Glover was given an inside look at the new Boathouse Climbing Centre which is being developed inside the old Llandudno Lifeboat Station, on Lloyd Road which has stood since 1903.

It’s Lloyd Street, not Lloyd Road, but what can you expect from the Pioneer.

More than 700 runners lined the Llandudno promenade on Sunday for the 27th annual Nick Beer 10km race.

Despite the breezy conditions organisers said some "excellent times" were achieved as Eryi Harriers pair Gwyn Owen and Catherine Connell took out the male and female races respectively.

For the first time ever a 1k fun run was held before the main race along the promenade.
This attracted more than 40 participants with all proceeds going to St David’s Hospice.

St David’s Hospice Conwy Area Fundraiser, James Wilde, said: “The Nick Beer race has a fantastic history in Llandudno spanning more than a quarter of a century and we’re really happy to be involved in the first ever Nick Beer Fun Run."

The club said they were extremely grateful for all the volunteers who helped on the day and sponsors that also supported the event.       Results  https://www.northwalespioneer.co.uk/news/17425806.hundreds-turn-out-for-27th-annual-nick-beer-race-in-llandudno/?ref=mr&lp=8

Interesting article, worth reading..............

Confidence in the future of the 'Queen of Welsh Resorts'
There is 'cautious optimism' in Llandudno despite the national uncertainty.

The national economic picture is currently one of political uncertainty, retail gloom and Brexit fears.

But business leaders in Llandudno - one of the region’s biggest tourism and shopping destinations - say their town is bucking the trend - with “cautious optimism” for the year ahead despite a few clouds.

A NUMBER of wild goats have invaded Llandudno to escape the weather.

The animals come from the more than 60 strong flock of Kashmiri goats which live on the Great Orme. However it is not uncommon for them to come into the town during bad weather.

One eye witness who saw the goats in Llandudno said : “They appear to have a liking for daffodils, which would be appropriate and good taste for Welsh goats.”     ;)

One thing the Goats will not eat under any circumstances is Daffodils, and to prove my point take a walk through Happy Valley where you will see thousands of them flowering untouched but  every thing else is fair game to them. This year I have chicken-wired off my front garden flowerbed and so far it seems to be working. The goats don't come down into town because of bad weather, it's because they are hungry and those responsible for them claim they are feral and so they don't require feeding. It's a disgraceful attitude and any other keeper of animals would have been prosecuted for animal cruelty. Once the limited fodder on the Orme has been consumed  they have no option but to come into town and help themselves to what ever is available.

Exactly Blongbob, the daffodils are great, which had the goats liked them they certainly wouldn't be. Another thing they appear not to like is Rosemary. Our hedges remain intact, but they chose the Senicio  ( sorry about the spelling) and pull it out from the gaps in the Rosemary.
Despite comments on FB to the contrary, it can be devastating to see the things that you have carefully nurtured eaten down to sticks. I spoke to a lady in Church Walks the other day who had had her pots completely eaten overnight. A costly occupation to replace.
