DRIVING RISK: Voice-activated smartphones and dashboard infotainment systems may be making drivers even more distracted, new studies have found.

The systems let drivers tune the radio, send a text message, or make a phone call while keeping their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel - but many are so error-prone or complex that they require more concentration rather than less, say the AAA

Coming soon to a road near you.....

New police radar gun could catch texting drivers
Texting while driving is ridiculously dangerous, but police could be clamping down soon thanks to a new radar gun which detects texters at a distance.
The gun is so accurate that it can even figure out the difference between a user sending a text, making a call or surfing online, as the radio frequencies emiited are ever so slightly different.

I'll believe that when the first test case gets to court and someone is convicted!  Within our cities there is too much posibility of interference from a multitude of electronic devices.   ZXZ

What if it's the passenger texting or surfing on the driver's phone?
Also we'll often play music from the phone - wouldn't that be picked up as well?

Exactly!   Too many ifs and buts about the whole idea.  A lot different making it work in a laboratory to out on the public highway.   WWW

You're both correct of course and it seems that the idea brings as many problems to the matter as it does solutions.    I would have thought that CCTV would show you who the culprit is and if the photo of the driver is unrecognisable then the owner of the vehicle could be requested to supply that info or otherwise be held responsible in default

Concern over young rooftop climbers in Llandudno

YOUNG people in Llandudno are “putting themselves at great risk” by climbing onto building rooftops in the town.
Police have appealed to youngsters not to climb onto the roofs of buildings and have increased patrols in certain areas in a bid to clamp down on the “clearly dangerous” activitiy.
The appeal follows a number of incidents in the town, in which several young people have found their way on top of hotels and a derelict community centre on Trinity Avenue.
Anyone with information or who may witness any similar activity is urged to contact PC Openshaw or his colleagues at Llandudno Police Station on 101.
Alternatively, individuals can contact Crimestoppers anonymously with information on 0800 555 111.
