Some years ago we booked a holiday for two weeks in Cala Galdana in Menorca and stayed at the Hotel Sol Gavilanes.  We had seen how beautiful the views were and booked a room with a sea view.
When we were taken to our room we couldn't even see the beach below us because of a giant Pine tree in front of the window.   :(    :rage:
A few days later after a word with the manager we moved rooms and had the view that we were expecting.    :)

I treated myself to a stay in the Sir Percy Blakeney suite in the Royal Crescent Hotel in Bath recently.
The first pic is the view from the lounge looking out over the Crescent. The second photo is the rear view from the bedroom. The third is a photo of the real coal fire in the room, my ultimate treat!
The fourth is a view of the lounge with an original Joshua Reynolds painting on the wall.
I had never been to Bath before. I thought it was gorgeous with lovely buildings and interesting shops.
Happy days!

If you want a eally fabulous room coupled with a great view in a fabulous location, try Castle Stuart near Inverness in Scotland.

Talking of castles. Here is one that my mum and I have enjoyed a couple of times.
It is Ashford Castle in County Mayo, Ireland. We flew to Knock from Manchester for next to nothing and then hired a car.
Some wonderful scenery.

Slightly further afield and with somewhat different scenery, but nevertheless one of the finest (but certainly not one of the cheapest!) hotels in the World is the New Otani Hotel in Tokyo.   Here is a short video:   I think Fester has maybe also stayed there.

I'm afraid the old travel budget didn't stretch that far!
I never even got summoned to a meeting in that hotel.
On the occasions I went to Tokyo, we stayed more central, in a very good hotel called The Shibuya.
All that seems a million years ago now.

This is the view a few minutes ago from Raffles Hotel Dubai. Great sunset.
The tallest building on the left is the Burj Khalifa which is the worlds tallest building.
Hope you all have a great time tonight. Cheers!

DaveR, I bet you won't say the same about mine taken early last Monday morning.

It is so poor I doubt if anyone will guess the location.

I like it! It has got atmosphere and lucky you going there.
Maybe we should have a thread for "mistake" photos?
