Anyhow, perhaps we SHOULD become a closed order, develop our own handshake, and issue bespoke leather aprons to all Forum members?

I run a closed forum and I also part-manage a subscription forum and there are pluses and minuses to both.  I know you weren't serious, Fester, but a closed forum stagnates growth, but allows the members to really know each other well. What you end up with is a sort of club , in which everyone knows everyone else, but where there's not a lot of change.  Personally, I favour an open forum, with effective management of registrants.

I was thinking more of a closed order, like a silent order in a monastery ....where we could seek permission from the all powerful moderators, once a year to post something.  Something bland, something fitting...
Something in praise of the moderators themselves perhaps.
Certainly nothing critical, and most definitely no images of the outside world ...there is a scary world out there!!
If this favour was granted....then we would wait a further year to seek permission to see if there was any answer to our missive...

In the intervening time we must work, pray and eat a small amount of porridge each day.

It would have to be named after some shining (and therefore - dead) example of taciturnity, of course. Perhaps the Order of St Sycophant, perhaps?

I was thinking more along the lines of The mysterious order of St Oscar .....
...he doesn't have much to say for himself, and he is most mysterious.

Although I am appreciative of my new Rank as a Lieutenant Commander,  I would really prefer an Royal Air Force Rank - something like Group Captain!    )*)&

Any chance of a change of Service?    >>>

R.A.F.----not a bad idea. In real life I was an AC2 struggling up to AC1.  If the forum changes, please note I WANT MY SUPERIOR RANK.

Yes, I was a brylcream boy.  I spent a long time at Brize Norton which is often mentioned in the news.  National Service of course.   I may be old----but not old enough to have been in the war.

It has been noticed by some, including myself, that amongst the host of Smileys from which we have to select includes the Scottish and Welsh National Flags.   )*)&

Without wishing to shout "Foul!" and invoke the power of any Statute concerning discrimination or racism I do hope the Administrators (one Welsh, one Scottish) will rectify the matter by introducing an English Flag depicting the red cross of St. George.   I know that there will be many who will applaud this most worthwhile addition to the Forum.   :Scot:  $welsh$   +
