Kinmel Hall, near Abergele, is going up for auction next month - guide price £1.5m. It had been up for sale at £3.5m until recently. A fantastic building, often referred to as the 'Welsh Versailles'.

A fantastic and incredible building.... is it unoccupied?

I heard it said a while ago that footballer Michael Owen was either buying it or already owned it.

Obviously its not true.

Michael Owen lives at Hawarden, I think, although I have heard his name mentioned. It's been unoccupied for many years and the owners have been a succession of hopeful investors hoping to make a killing on it. The obvious use would be for a country house hotel with golf course but the drawback is that it doesn't have much land with it.

Not much land??  But Golf required? ... well that might be of interest to a certain pitch and putt meister of our acquaintance... with a very familiar name!
Maybe the rumours were right after all!   ;) ;)

 Well, Mike already controls municipal golf in the Llandudno area, so it's a relatively small jump upwards for him...  $good$

I hope you were putting the roof on and not taking it off, Mike!

The 'Eddie' would have been Eddie Vance? The guy that had a vision from God one night that told him to buy Kinmel Hall and make it into a Christian conference centre?

Driving through Pen the other day I noticed the old railway station is up for auction on the 2nd October.

http://www.lshauctions.co.uk/PDF/8-25114.pdf

I lived there in the early 90s for 2 years.  it was an excellent flat with loads of rooms.  Original features throughout including old fireplaces, lath and horse hair walls and even an old pantry.  I loved it there.....the parties were amazing with no neighbours to upset.  Funny enough the trains never used to bother us either not even the 2am mail train that made the whole building shake.

A friend of mine also lived there in the mid 90s, he worked at the First Chance Pine shop that was on the ground floor.

Maybe it would make a great registered office for a certain property / investment company Dave?     ;) ;)

It is certainly going to be needed 'any day now!'   Z**

It would be perfect, as long as we can pick it up and move it to Llandudno!

I like your interesting properties thread DaveR. I was fascinated to see the Kinmel Hall one so I looked up the auction results from last night's auction. I says "deferred" by it so I presume there was no interest?
Here is a link to the auction results page. There are some very unusual sounding propeties on there.
