Similar principle in machines used for cutting out signs for vans etc.  Can be seen in local vehicle sign writers premises.   ZXZ

Hollins: ever seen this gadget?

No, I hadn't seen this before. I'm not sure I quite understand it even after watching the video! Is it for making cards? If so maybe Nemesis would be interested as she does that.

It's a printer which cuts patterns from many different types of material.  You simply use one of the pre-supplied images, or you can create your own, then feed in card, paper, vinyl, sticky-backed plastic (a la Blue Peter!) or iron-on fabric and it cuts the precise shape for you. One supported use is for glass etching. You can cut the silhouette you want from adhesive vinyl, then stick that to a glass and apply glass-etching paste to produce your own design on the family glassware. As the paste is almost certainly based on hydrofluoric acid, goggles and gloves would probably be advisable :-))

Looking forward to the Hollins Family crest on the soon-to-be marketed glassware range...

On the Create and Craft channel they use a thing called a Sizzix which looks a bit like a child's toy and works by winding a handle. It cuts out from 'dies', but in my opinion it seems very expensive and each die is a separate item, so unless you want hundreds of the same you are spending quite a lot.
As I make my cards to sell for charity, it would be a very large item to buy, so usually I look around for bags of shapes at craft fairs and in shops. Also I get bored doing the same thing all the time. ;D
At the moment I have on the go cards, a toy giraffe, poppies for remembrance day and Hope House have an appeal on the go for 8" knitted squares of which I have done a few.

Eventually blankets to sell when we have a cabin ( hopefully) at the Christmas Fayre, or even a stall in the tent.
D. Knitting wool
4mm needles
cast on 40 stitches
Garter stitch for 80 rows
That is if anyone is willing. The response in the shop with staff and customers alike has been amazing.

Very nice!  Brings back memories.  During WW II, in an effort to keep me and my Sister amused, my Mother taught us to knit, crochet and embroider, and later on use a powered sewing machine after learning on a treadle model.  I still do the occasional bit of sewing but have given up the fancy stuff.  Never costs me for turning up trouser legs.  Rag rugs was another war time hobby.
